This game is a real oddity being an away game at Plainmoor which is in fact being hosted by Truro city and with it being a bumper bank holiday gate perhaps slightly tempered by being the third match at Plainmoor in a week, is still likely to lead to some logistical problems in the home end.
Firstly, there are no tickets available before the match and everyone needs to pay cash on the gate, even season ticket holders and thankfully while this means scanning of individual tickets which caused the delays yesterday is not required, it will still be tricky to process everyone and a steward at the game yesterday advised that the gates will be opening earlier at 1:30pm to accommodate this although not yet confirmed officially.
There has been quite a lot of talk recently about the seating issues encountered with these increased gates and it seems that season ticket holders still have their seats reserved despite it being an away game but otherwise it is a first come first serve basis so certainly worth getting to the game early If you want a prime seat in Bristow’s Bench at least.
Truro had a good day yesterday winning 4:1 away and that man Harvey bagged all the goals and certainly will be the one to watch again. Torquay will certainly need to play much better for this game than against Gloucester where we missed both Lemonheigh-Evans and Andrews in the central midfield position and our recent strength there became more of a weakness.
The good news is that he should be back and suitably refreshed. Wynter was taken off early after a nasty late challenge but he didn’t appear to be in any great discomfort and hopefully this was precautionary but Essuman has shown he can fulfill this role if necessary. Otherwise, I’ll be looking to see if Edwards is back, if only on the substitutes bench for now as he certainly adds something to the side and his pace against a tiring defence has been missed despite our marvellous run in his absence.
As a footnote, this is the game where we can break the record for most consecutive wins in the league and it is fortunate that we have a guaranteed massive away following which will outnumber the home fans many times over and is the one footballing advantage of this ground share arrangement that we need to take full advantage of!
Edit: we are now unbeaten in 14 league games and the record is 15 going back to the early part of the 1960 season achieved In December of that year so double history is on the cards!
