AWOL, lol. I also went AWOL in 79. Gave myself up after 6 days (well, 6 days, 15 hours, and 31 mins, according to the 252 - funny the things you never forget) and did 10 days nick. No LS&GC for me (or you). You also probably had a lucky miss with 'Colonel Callan', the way things subsequently turned out. Took this off the EU thread to reply. Can't remember how long I was AWOL for, a month or so I suppose! Was seeing my then girlfriend, but her old man didn't like me so had to sleep in the car, in the local wood! Occasionally, the Old Bill* would wake me up and ask me what I was doing, to which I would give some bullshit story which seemed to appease them and they'd go away. Normally, it was one plod who woke me up, but this particular morning I woke to find four of them surrounding the car! Asked what I was doing there, I started my usual spiel, only to be cut off with the words: 'Actually, you're Reg Register, and you're AWOL from the British Army!' The girlfriends old man had shopped me! My girlfriend was in the UK, and I was AWOL from my unit in Germany. Got back to Germany and got 28 days, but had 4 knocked off because of good behaviour! Getting banged up thoroughly pissed me off and I bought myself out shortly after...biggest mistake of my life! * The Old Bill: if you don't know where the saying came from, stop drooling in your Cornflakes and look in! At the start of the 1900s there was a cartoon character called Old Bill, and he was always depicted with a droopy moustache. The Coppers (not now) also had droopy moustaches...the things we do to be fashionable...tank tops and long hair spring to mind! Somebody obviously saw a Copper walking the beat (don't you just love nostalgia) and said: 'Look, there's Old Bill!' ...no LS & GC Medal for me either Regy! - discretionary Character assessment for 1987 - aah - never wanted the medal anyway - long story - they'd never believe it!! - happy RN daze!!!......

With all that bloody awful music you play, I think that might have had something to do with it!

Forget the madness of Brexit, this one just leaves me shaking my head in disbelief! Fireman Sam has been saving lives and putting out fires for years now, yet somebody has decided that he should be taken off the Tele! Why does somebody want him taken off the Tele...yes, you've got it sports fans...because he's White! Hold on though, there's more! Who is the person that wants Fireman Sam taken off the Tele...yes, you've got it again sports fans...a White Fireman! I'm off to a dark room for a kip! www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7451121/Youre-white-man-dont-fire-Piers-Morgan-clashes-fire-chief.html

Getting banged up thoroughly pissed me off and I bought myself out shortly after...biggest mistake of my life! I also got a day knocked off for good behaviour. I got released on something like 21st December, at which stage there was only the rear party in barracks. All the duties had been allotted and my name hadn't been considered as I'd been otherwise engaged, so I was told to go home for the Christmas and New year block leave. To push my luck, I told the admin sgt I had no money, so he arranged an over the counter payment - I think it was something like a £100 - and issued me a train warrant. Gleaming! And off I went. At the end of January when the pay boys caught up with me, and took back the £100, and deducted the wages paid whilst in nick, and the cost of the train warrant, I was left with about £2 to survive February on. Fukcing dry month that was! I only thought of buying myself out once, at the 6-year point. When I enquired the cost they wanted something like $800. I'd signed for 9 so I thought I'd keep that money for beer and fags, and just leave at the end of my time. When that came about, I was a sgt in Germany on good money, and I never thought of leaving again. Smart move! Even though I went on to do and see some unbelievable stuff, I still regret my moment of petulence! How I got to go to Rhodesia is also unbelievable...fate/karma/whatever, call it what you want! I will of course tell all...but not today!

Somebody called Sam Smith (he's not a White Fireman is he) has taken the word 'Snowflake' to a whole new level!
Unsure of what he is (man/woman/it) he now wants to be called 'They'
With all the different people I become on a daily basis, I no longer want to be called Reg, but I want to be called 'Them'

Initially, I looked at that and found it very funny, then you slowly realise the tragedy of it! At one stage we had a NHS that was the envy of the world...now it's the butt of every joke on the planet! Health tourists, immigrants and Uncle Tom Cobley and all, come and reap the benefits...pun intended! Why do they do this? It's the same reason a Dog licks its Dick...because it/they can! How has this insanity materialised...I'll give you one God damn guess! Years of systematic abuse by the so called leaders of this country, and a population of mindless individuals who seem happy to live in the squalor of this once great country! Attachments:

So, the U.S. is 'Locked and Loaded' and ready to go and kick some butt! Iran has this strange idea, that it can take on the U.S. which is similar to me saying I can take on Mike Tyson! U.S. troops are on the way as I type, and the British Army is getting ready to send it's forces to smite the evil pagan heretics! Private Smith is on Paternity leave for a year though, seeing as how his wife has just given birth to something...they haven't decided what they want yet! Which means a total of four British Soldiers will bolster the moral of the U.S. troops! I might nip down to Southampton and see them off! Just a quick footnote: I no longer wish to be called Them (it confuses us) and wish to revert back to Reg! I would though, like to thank all the people who sent me a PM with words of encouragement and support!

So, the U.S. is 'Locked and Loaded' and ready to go and kick some butt! LOL. 'Locked and Loaded' always cracks me up. Journalists and politicians using a meaningless Hollywood soundbite to try to sound professional, when it just demonstrates their complete ignorance of weapon drills. So what's the feeling over the pond? We all know that the Iranians could wipe out a million of their own people and no one would even raise their eyebrows, but this is about oil, and when that's involved, a lot of willy shaking goes on! Surely The Trump can't allow this situation to continue!

I doubt half the nation is aware yet, as they are so introspective and insular. The US doesn't need Iranian or anyone else's oil, as it became self sufficient earlier this year, to fanfare headlines at the time. I read yesterday that Americans (they meant the US, not the whole continent) consume 20.5 billion barrels a day, so I assume US production is higher than that. They also have a 31-day physical oil reserve, some of which has been sold off several times by previous presidents, and since self-sufficiency Trump has been under pressure to sell it off completely, but I don't think he will. He may be nuts but he is still a businessman primarily. It's really only about the oil price, which Trump wants to keep low, as it is good for the broader economy, which I doubt will get many objections from the many millions of car-owning voters, who will be going to the polls next year. Works for me, I can tell you. Whenever I'm in UK, I feel real resentment towards the government when filling up, because around 83% of the price is tax. Here it's less than 20%. Being self sufficient in oil is quite an accomplishment me thinks, and not to sell it off for the sake of it is also up there. Pity we didn't have a businessman in charge when we sold off our gold reserves for the equivalent of a half eaten Mars bar and a used condom!

My yard guy has a brother in the oil industry, and he was telling me yesterday that since the collapse of the oil price there are many US wells currently in hibernation, as they are uneconomical to pump at today's prices. Nonetheless, they are maintained and could be brought back online quite quickly, if anyone tries to hold the US to ransom over oil. When one of our natural resources, (Coal) became uneconomical to produce, we rightly shut down the mines! We didn't put them in hibernation though, we just filled them full of shit...now we bring it in from China! You mention a yard guy? I'm guessing it's a business yard and not your back yard? Living in Africa, having a yard boy and house girl is pretty mandatory, and at one stage we even had a yard boy who did the house work also! One of the girls we had was called Lizzy. Living in a shebeen though, you didn't want to get a pretty girl, because she wouldn't get a lot of work done for obvious reasons! Although Lizzy wasn't very pretty, I did have to admonish One-Eyed Olly once for paying Lizzy to give him a Blue Vein Solo! She must have caught him on his Blind-Side!

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the murder of 11 Marine Bandsmen at Deal, by the provisional ira. All were teenagers in training to be musicians. The perpetrators have never been caught. Unlike those perpetrators, those young men never got the chance to live their lives, get married, have kids, etc, so please spare them a thought today. Of course the powers that be, maybe aware of the perpetrators of this, but have their hands tied! Thank you Tony Blair!

I knew he had a considerable property portfolio, but it wasn't until we were in Barbados last year that I found out it includes a £4 million mansion there. I see that the Iranians have grabbed yet another tanker! If Blair and Bush were still in charge, the troops would have gone in long ago, and Blair would already be flogging the oil off! In Buddhism, you're supposed to look at everything without attachment or aversion. In the case of Blair, the latter is rather difficult!

According to the Musical Express, they are bringing in a new category just for him...it's called The Biggest F**k**g Arsehole award!

It’s probably best you neither show attachment or aversion, Reg. Like you do with the EU, Corbyn and Farridge.
