There was one bizarre episode in the second half. Williams who was warming up on the touch line ran near our goal and had a quiet word with our keeper MacDonald. When Macdonald next had a goal kick he went down with cramp and our physio gave him treatment. All our players went over to Johnson to hear instructions and our reserve keeper did not warm up. It was obvious to us that MacDonald had instructons from Brett to fake an injury so our manager could give instructions to the team. Very canny, Mr. Johnson! Thanks for that explanation Swanny. We said at the time it looked like an American football time out. What a joy it is to watch Torquay United at the moment after years of hair-shirted penance reached unbearable levels of pain under the dreadful Gary Owers. Gary Johnson has lifted the negativity in spectacular fashion. He makes the fans enjoy their football and it is obvious that he makes the players enjoy their football. They are far from perfect - young players will not be perfect - but they must now actually enjoy coming to work under a boss who encourages in a positive manner. Not for the first time under Johnson we looked light years better than a side challenging for a play-off spot. I would have bitten your hand off for two 4-1 wins this week, but you almost felt disappointed at the final result both today and on Tuesday. Tuesday felt more like a 5-0. Today more like an 8-0. So pleased for Janneh. That boy really does love scoring goals! Hats off too to Chris Ralph who received a well-deserved huge ovation. Producing decent pitches for four games in eight days given the weather was a miracle. Farewell and good luck. Finally, a big shout out for those who manned the Fanzone in Boots and Laces. A wonderful joint venture between TUST, TUCST and TUFC. Three out of four ain't bad. Great to see George Essuman and Asa Hall getting involved - and not just as a "contractual obligation" but fully entering into the spirit of it. I thanked Asa who fully understands the importance of engaging with the local community. Would have liked to thank George too, but he had his hands full in fierce competition with a young fan at FIFA19 on the big screen. Days like this you remember that football can be fun. I was starting to forget that!

Thanks Swanny- were you in the family stand? Thought Keating got clipped but was in Bristows Bench just over the half way line so could not be completely sure. Yes, I was in the Family stand so I got a clear view of Keating's dive just like last week I got a clear view last week that Woking's penalty was a perfectly timed tackle and not a foul. I also checked with my friends around me for their "expert" view and they agreed Keating made a blatant dive. He made an awful first touch and after surrendering possession theatrically went to ground. My son in particular was outraged about this and it is not a good example to set - you cannot fool all the people! Keating does have a habit of going to ground too easily when he loses out. However, it is normally outside the penalty area and tries to get the crowd on his side with his posturing. I am not anti-Keating as such and I do like his work rate and efforts. But I do not like that aspect of his game and give me a good honest pro like Kevin Hill any day!

Lovely, that has cleared that one up!
After a frenetic week at Plainmoor with three games it was a bit disappointing to hear we would have to wait another three weeks until the next home game which shows the difference between the brands of football under Owers and Johnson.
On the plus side next weeks game at Basingstoke gives us the chance to give a full run out to those returning from injury, mainly Edwards and Sendles-White but possibly others as well as those on the bench so maybe this competition is not bad timing.

Personally thought Keating had a pretty good game and an assist in three of the goals. Hasn't had the amount of pitch time compared with Reid but always puts in shift and was playing out wide - not his preferred position After a performance like yesterday i think its being rather picky to criticise or single out any player. Christ weve been waiting long enough for a little bit of success and some of us are being ultra critical. GJ likes his qualities that's for sure and I trust his judgement more than any previous manager in recent times. It was Jamie Reid a couple of months ago. Niate and Ben Wynter last week who some were saying were not good enough and needed replacing - both young players who are improving under this manager and with the potential to be better. Hilly never dived? Ha! he was just better at it and its just part of the modern game happens at EVERY level and will never ever be eradicated. I don't give a monkeys toss how we get out of this retched division and if we win the odd pen with a dive it will surely balance out over the season when we get one or two against us.

link - They say strikers hunt best in pairs so Reid is delighted that after a slow start Janneh has found his feet and is banging then in. Incredibly, in the 12 games since Johnson has taken over, Reid is averaging one goal a game with 12 strikes to his credit and Janneh now has 6 goals. In fact since his first senior goal against Winchester, Janneh has hit 6 in 7 games so similar sort of average which shows why we are scoring so freely. Not sure I can remember a pair of strikers on fire for us at the same time like those two. Just need Asa back to get on the end of those corners 🤫
