Despite a home defeat on Saturday St Albans are up there and are one of the teams that we need to win against if we are to continue to progress up the table.
Not sure if any of the injured will be back for this game but is perhaps an opportunity for Andrews to get up to speed and Sendles-White to push for a start after sitting on the bench last Saturday.
If we continue to produce chances we will score and an opportunity for this side to finally turn it on at home and get the Plainmoor faithful rocking.

So, yet another game of football!  I think if we are going to make an assault on the summit of this league, we are going to have to start pretty darn soon! It seems that most of my adult life has been spent with us seven points adrift!  We all know one thing, and that's we can't relax until we are three goals up! It seems that most of my adult life has been spent saying that! If I were to predict the future...would the reports from tonight's match go something like...if only we hadn't missed that first sitter...if only we hadn't missed... That's not really predicting the future of course...that's just reading previous reports...in which the word missed is used quite often! |

Don't talk rubbish Reg; it'll be the referee's fault. Oops! Forgot about the Referee!  I remember going to Rushden & Diamonds a few years back. The ref that day, was the tall bald headed fella that used to referee the Premiershite matches! I can still remember how good it was to see such a professional in action! To be honest, I spent more time looking at him than I did at the match!  Mmmmmmmm...😈 |

A bit of a test to see how we respond to Saturdays very disappointing result.
Thought the were pretty unlucky on the day and did most things right - never a pen in my book and the keeper had a blinder.
The league is far more important in the wider scheme of things but this is an ideal opportunity to prove our credentials against free scoring St Albans City who will pose a genuine threat.
Our defensive play early in the match on Saturday was a bit wanting when we were opened up a few times which was a worry before we took more control of the game.
Conner L Evans was a class above and we need that quality to continue. Kallala and Jenha also impressed going forward and created chances.Young improving players who are still learning and adjusting to the game.
Reid had three half chances and all went over the bar. His streak is stumbling somewhat.
Andrews coming back from injury wasn't as effective as he can be but Dickson looked more match fit and sharper than he has done.
Hopefully more back from injury tonight.
Could be an open free scoring contest tonight but we must really start winning these home games now.

Yes, I have noticed that SA are rather free scoring! So in that case, I'm going for a 2:2 draw!

Almost there! 2-1 to Torquay at half time separated by a beautiful header by their number 3 - Tom Bender past his keeper into the bottom right corner of the net. Our first goal was a thing of beauty with a poor goal kick very quickly worked to Reid who shot from just outside the area to score from a clean hit strike. They quickly countered from poor defending - long throw to just outside the six yard box headed to an unmarked St Albans player on the edge of the box with all the time to chest and volley for the equaliser. Again we are generally dominant with St Albans feeding off scraps so floodgates could open or 2-2 draw 🤔 |

HT 2-1 Couldn't make it tonight but listening and we sound like were applying some pretty relentless pressure and sounds like a good game to watch.
Hope we don't tail off and concede, a one goal advantage isn't going to be enough in this contest.

Great win tonight when short of quite a few players through injury.
Gary Johnson is a winner.
The transformation since his arrival is quite miraculous, on the front foot from start to finish consistently game after game and I believe there is plenty more to come from this squad.
Cant say I've witnessed that from a TUFC squad for a very very long time and long may it continue.

Very enjoyable game tonight, made all the sweeter that initially did not think I would be able to make . St Albans are a good honest side and generally played in the right way although it was not in their interests to time waste.
I think we played a straight 4-4-2 formation with Keating on the right and Kalala on the left with Janneh and Reid up front. Andrews and Evans in midfield looked a class above at times. Keating worked hard and set up the first goal and Kalala had another good game, full of running and trickery but needs to work on his final pass at times.
Second half started with St Albans putting us under substantial pressure for 10 minutes and perhaps was the only period of the game that they were on top. However, it was Reid who once again added to his tally managing to make space to fashion a shot from just outside the area to put daylight between the sides and then in our next attack down the right saw the ball crossed in just past a defender straight to the incoming Andrews who was able to stoke a left footed shot into the bottom right hand corner.
Although both teams kept attacking, the score remained the same. I cannot remember McDonald having to make a serious save. Janneh had the ball in the net from a good flowing movement but was ruled offside. He was also fouled for a strong penalty shout but think the ref was starting to feel sorry for them by this stage.

Personally, I think it's all to do with colour! Colours that we wear, even the colour of paint on the walls! I mean, you even get those people who do Fung Sway...tell you what colours to put on your walls...even tell you how to arrange your furniture! So how the hell were SA expected to win last night in those awful purple shirts! Why do we never get anywhere...because we wear yellow! What was the colour we were wearing the last time we were promoted...White! What colour were the opposing team wearing...yes sports fans...Yellow! I rest my case m'lud!  |

I was a little nervous when I heard Dickson was out. 4-2-4 with Keating and Kalala wide and the two Bristol City youngsters in the middle looked to me like it risked getting severely over-run in midfield.
As it was, St Albans were a breath of fresh air in that they came to play an open game with none of the streetwise cynicism we usually encounter. They were also severely disadvantaged by only turning up half an hour before kick off - as Maidenhead did last season.
Lemonheigh-Evans and Andrews took full advantage and thoroughly enjoyed themselves reveling in the freedom to play good football. Keating played on the right and looked a lot happier than he had done on the left - setting up the first goal with a nice cut-back. Kalala enjoyed the freedom to run at defenders - and looks just as happy on the left as on the right.
A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining evening and a comfortable win. Hats off to Chris Ralph in his last week at Plainmoor for producing a decent pitch for the third game in four days of mostly terrible weather. He will be missed, but I am sure he goes with our gratitude and best wishes.
I won't get too carried away as we will run in to far tougher opposition than this - not necessarily "better" teams, but "more awkward" teams.
But on the other hand, we should fear nobody. Promotion is the target - and a realistic one.
