The first meaningful match day thread of the new season. Plenty of optimism around regards the squad. A squad that, on the face of it looks well balanced with youth and experience but also ability. Difficult to judge who manager Gary Owers will start for this one with the luxury of having genuine competition in most areas. My guess he will be looking to start most who did so well against Cardiff City - as a team performance at our level it was hard to fault. Nothing is won or lost o the first day of course but all eyes will be on how we perform against one of the clubs fancied for the top places but its vitally important we hit the ground running. I have no idea why but the first five league matches are crammed into the first fortnight of the season - a test of squad depth and strength that should play in our favor. No predictions its impossible to know how good or bad we are until a good few matches in.  |

Feel for the fans attending soon as ours run out on the pitch it will surely hit home the damage done to this once proud club.I really hope we go straight back up but have a nagging feeling owers will not be the one that gets us out of here pronto,my other worry is despite how badly we may do we stuck with him owers is magic as far as osborne concerned i for one dont share his optimism

A very tough start. A draw would be a decent result.
I expect we will play three at the back. Cameron on the left and perm 2 from Essuman, Niate and Sokolik.
MacDonald keeper, Wynter and Davis wing backs.
Will we play Hall as holding midfielder leaving an attacking midfielder (Nabi, Regis or Banton?) to his right and Dickson left? Or maybe Essuman or Sokolik behind Hall and Dickson?
Williams bound to start up front but who with him? Reid? Keating? Wright more likely to be on bench.

If owers doesnt get decent strikers proven at scoring in we arent going anywhere in a hurry ,it was obvious last year still is so far but will he listen?doubt it
