It's a shame that Real Madrid use players like Ramos! Once a proud and skillful side that as a kid you would look up too but no more! Barcelona on the other hand don't seem to play thugs in their side. I feel it reflects what their managers are about.
Flo it was all about the score finishing at 3-1, it's called match fixing, f**k all to do with what klopp was up to!
Tjgull so it's daft to think that match fixing exists eh, oh what bliss it must be to live such a blinkered existence! You'll find that where there is a game to be played there is money to be made.

So the international cricket games in India that were rife with match fixing weren't watched by anyone? Yeah right, who's deluded?

Zinedine Zidane jumps ship at Real Madrid, just a matter of days after the European Cup final, and before the club becomes engulfed in a major bribery scandal perhaps ? 

I'm not expecting it. But am aware of the dirty dealings that go on in some of those European countries, and if an added bonus of Brexit is that Britain's reputation for fair play and honesty can be better preserved, by separating ourselves from the corrupt continentals, then so much the better.

Thinking back to European football competitions in the 1970's and 1980's, talk and suspicion of bribery was more wide spread. A big European club, trailing from the first leg, and what was the best means of making sure you progressed to the next round? The referee, probably no more than a Bulgarian postman in his everyday working life, would know exactly what was expected from him if the very expensive brand new Rolex watch was anonymously delivered to his hotel room, and was something he wanted to take home with him.


The fantastic riches in the Premier League these days mean that the actual players get salaries that make our eyes water. Karius, like the other Liverpool players, would surely have been in line for a huge bonus had they lifted the trophy. His reputation enhanced, proof that he could perform on the big stage with the pressure on, would have brought him bigger and better sponsorship and endorsement deals, and better clubs interested in signing him. For the moment his prospects and earning potential have taken a considerable knock, just when a good performance would have had people suggesting he'd be raking in Premier League wages for the next 10 years or more, now the suggestions are that he's not up to the standard needed to keep goal for a big club and that he'll have to drop a level or two.

Betting on sporting events is a huge global business, and at certain levels in certain sports, it would be naive to imagine that fixing, or even throwing contests doesn't take place. I don't think that was the case with Liverpool's keeper on Saturday night, but obviously don't know with total certainty.

Aussie could be way ahead of most of us in his assessment of this. And when you consider the influence of drugs, gambling etc, many sports would benefit from a major clean up. For the moment I shall continue to put poor TUFC performances down to incompetence rather than dishonesty. If I thought otherwise, I wouldn't have forked out for yet another season ticket  .
