A very cold Tuesday night in December will see comfortably the lowest crowd of the season.
I am sure the hardcore will be keen to show their appreciation of Ian Twitchin.
How much have we improved?
Getting thrashed 3-0 at Tranmere, having been unlucky not to beat them at Plainmoor, suggests not a lot.
A good win over Gateshead, having lost 3-0 up there, would suggest the opposite.
Our last league match before xmas so we desperately need three points to avoid being a long way adrift of safety going into Boxing Day's match.

I am still unable to understand why we agreed to this request from Gateshead to change from a Saturday afternoon!
I am sure that there will be many TUFC supporters who will not be able to be at Plainmoor this evening - but who could have made the original date.
3 points will, however, help to ease the pain for the many of us who cannot attend.

Three points is a must tonight anything less just increases the pressure next match. A few weaknesses cruelly exposed on Saturday, the obvious one our inability to hit the net and sure enough Gateshead will have taken note for certain.
Will we turn up? - I think we will, handing the initiative to the opposition in the opening stages will not be tolerated - but most importantly will we manage score goals ....

Starting tonight with the first of four must win games against Gateshead (then away at Eastleigh and Boreham Wood followed by home against Eastleigh on New Years Day). Still think that the game should have been played on the original date; higher crowd then as opposd to a cold and wet night.
As long as we DON'T play tonight like we did on Saturday, then we have a chance.
I'll be one of the faithfull 1200 or so...

Not well so didn't attend - listened and it sounded bloody dreadful. The elusive target man is proving impossible to find and the failure to find one will be the death of this club. "Must win games" we never ever win them.

"Must win games" we never ever win them. Could have won it at the death 🙁 It was dire but your bang on about the target man and must win matches. I think every game now is a must win!

Well, we got lucky with that one and nearly won it at the death. I don't think any of our strike force will get us above the line and I'd send the new French lad back now along with Jazzie Spongebob who (IMO) offers nothing that Higgins brings to the table - plus he has a decent long throw. I understand that a lot of the loans are nearly or are up soon. Not sure Owers can bring in anything better... It's gonna be a long and hard season...now where's that route finder to Weston?

Believe what Aussie? I think the "I told you so" argument is a little premature. Certainly there's plenty of hard work to be done and we need to find our scoring boots from somewhere but overall we have witnessed a fitter and more organised set of players since Owers and Kuhl have been on the scene. The one thing we are missing is a proper target man and its been the same all season and since the departure of Nathan Blissett. Reid, Keating, Pittman are ok as support roles but none are goal poachers who can create a chance and score from scraps. I just watched the highlights and it didn't look as bad as the commos on radio Devon were making out. Again we tried to pass the ball and created enough to have won the game but the forwards just don't have that ability, knack or conviction in front of goal and even Youngy's efforts looked pretty tame when we need a ruthless killer instinct around the box. He must surely start Gnabouyou soon. Keating is so up and down and inconsistent and is just not a genuine goal threat. Not enough goal attempts or goals from midfield either for my liking or trickery down the flanks only Davis at wing back is willing or capable at running defenders - we need players who can unsettle defenders and its getting near to the point we where ewe have to commit more players going forward in attack - wins needed, goals needed we have to become more of a threat somehow. I think we are getting most things right now. The next signing could be the one that makes or breaks our season I just hope Owers can find an answer from somewhere.

I don't think it's premature at all! That's my opinion obviously you disagree and you are entitled to your opinion! I think the horse has bolted and no one can stop it. I have nothing against owers and kuhl, I just don't think they are the answer. Like the players, they have plenty of huff and puff but no quality! That's my opinion hope it doesn't annoy you too much!

I think the "I told you so" argument is a little premature. I have a longstanding theory that most people who post on forums just want to say they have been "proved right". I think you'll find this just proves me right. I posted this link before: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_biasI'm sure Aussie has made his mind up that Nico was badly treated and did as well as he could possibly have done in the circumstances he had to work under - and that all that has happened since has proved him right. Others have made their mind up that Nico was utterly useless and Owers is a huge improvement - and that all that has happened since has proved them right. As the article linked to above points out, confirmation bias has a polarising effect. The silent majority sits in the middle and will be open-minded to see see how things pan out, whilst those on the extremes are unlikely ever to admit they have been proved wrong. For some, relegation would prove that the rubbish Nico signed condemned us to relegation before the season started, whilst dodging the drop would prove what a brilliant job Oweres did in turning things round. For others, relegation would prove that Nico would have done better and dodging the drop would prove that Nico left behind a good squad.

It's got f**k all to do with kev! As I said on another thread I had been up to watch a game! What I witnessed was lots of desperate huff and puff and no quality! My observation of a game of football is being seen as some loyalty to kev is just twisted! Yes kev is my mate but that doesn't and can't change what I witnessed! I would thank you John to stop trying to put your words and meanings in my mouth!

It's got f**k all to do with kev! Well that's proved me wrong then! Sorry Aussie if I have misunderstood you. To be honest, your "we are definitely down" view does balance the views elsewhere that we have seen a complete and utter transformation under the new management. I respect your opinion, but I think you are wrong if you think we have no chance of staying up. We were in just as bad a hole last season and the season before and pulled clear. That does not mean we will do it again but it does mean we can do it again. Maybe your not seeing many games over the last few seasons means you have an unrealistic view of how good you need to be to avoid being relegated from the National League. You were unimpressed with how we played against Aldershot, whereas most of those who witnessed Great Escape 1 and Great Escape 2 in full thought we played well in that game. Can we agree that if we continue to play like we did against Gateshead we will go down? I wouldn't argue with that, but would argue that we can play better than that and we have played better than that. We certainly have a mountain to climb, but it is too early to give up.
