My first official match day post so please bear with me as I waffle on.
Crunch time for the “Bottom Feeders ”of the division - a situation we are all very familiar with. “Crunch Time “and “Must Win Game”only thing you would consider as consistent at the football club these days.
Our opponents Chester have had a mixed start to the season drawing their first three fixtures before impressing with an away victory over much fancied Aldershot seven days ago. Typically undoing all the good work losing to Macclesfield at home just two days later.
A pretty average start to the campaign but I would swap their form for ours in an instant.
There appears to be little or no sign of improvement or of any upturn in fortunes as we face yet another week without a manager and half of the already threadbare squad either injured and ruled out or carrying knocks.
To save embarrassment GI have sanctioned three temps to fill the gaps mostly in defence signing inexperienced midfielder 18 year old George Dowling from Bristol City and free agent left-back Chinua Cole, who is 22.
Additionally Norwich City defender Michee Efete has been signed on loan until 3 January.
It's going to be difficult to predict this weekends starting line up.
A shame Jake Gosling is out with a broken foot he did look like he could beat a man.
Ryan Clarke the only genuine plus point to this dreadful start to the season is predicted to be missing for a number of weeks so unfortunatly the mistake prone Lavercombe will no doubt continue in goal.
Chaney and Lathrope are both out with thigh/groin strains.
Yan Klukowski has Plantar Fasciitis (No not some exotic new signing!!) which will require rest and recovery.
Jamie Reid has a broken wrist but will have to play on with a cast.
Jordan Lee still at Bournemouth with no prospect yet of a return.
Miles Anderson hasn't looked right since coming back after injury and is surely still carrying an a knock of some kind..
The good news is that Gowling and Davis have started light non contact training.. Duhh! Never thought I would see the day when Davis started a match but hey-ho looks a distinct possibility soon.
Expect the awe inspiring Fallon to start and Reid and Pitman out wide and maybe Keating in the hole.
Haworth – who? Who is he and what he capable of or perhaps he's carrying an injury! Another bloody enigma.
Luke young on his own in the middle – ha ha only kidding he'll probably have young twiglet Mitchell or the new loanee Dowling to keep him company.
Depressing isn't it? I now expect defeat once again. Nothing I have witnessed over the first weeks of the season convinces me otherwise but of course as always, hope I'm wrong.
Todays starting line up.
Dorel, Higgins, McGinty, Anderson, Cole; Howarth, Young, Dowling, Reid; Keating, Gray
