Speechless odds on to lose today BUT as we all know we supposedly have the easiest fixture remaining and had supposedly the hardest fixture today and look what happened. There will be one amazing partisan crowd at Plainmoor next Saturday. Not to be missed, this could be the greatest escape of them all.

If we stay up we might have to change our name to Houdini United next season! Fingers (and everything else) crossed.

Wow, what a result! Following the game on BBC Sport I was hanging about 5 minutes behind the "live" score. Phoned my Mother in Westhill Avenue who went to the radio with the phone so I could follow it live. Great Escape II is now on. Unfortunately I will not be able to be at Plainmoor next Saturday.
Just to make my day Frankfurt beat Ausburg 3-1.

All I can say is - Remember last match day v Colchester Utd and it didn't seem possible we could go down even if we lost. We went down of course. No complacency next week must now finish off the most unlikely escape and another to go down in TUFC history books that would rank as one of the greatest ever escapes.

As Pete suggests, we can only breathe a sigh of relief if and when the task is completed next Saturday afternoon. Hopefully the players will have gained confidence not only from how well they played last time out at Plainmoor, but also from today's fantastic win at play-off chasing Dover. I will certainly be showing my gratitude to a great supporter of West Country sport, as well as a good friend of TUFC who has devoted many hours of his time to helping us, by buying a copy of that grand old newspaper the Sunday Janner which will again proudly take it's place on the newsagent's shelf.

In my opinion, the question that supporters should be asking of the manager is why on earth Brett Williams has been missing from the starting team for more than half of the season. He has scored four goals in two games when it mattered most, and will also finish the season as easily the leading scorer.
It's all very well for KN to imply, earlier in the season, that Williams' work rate was below par, but so f*****g well what ? Many of the great teams in the history of the game contained players who were only interested in scoring goals. Jimmy Greaves was one example from long ago, Gary Lineker another within the last thirty years and our own David Graham a more recent one. Nobody expected players like those to rush around the pitch or keep tracking back, as long as they were scoring vital goals. I often wonder where the modern obsession with that aspect of the game has come from.
I have nothing but the ultimate respect for Kevin Nicholson's efforts this season, given the budgetary constraints and other critical distractions which he has had to face. Nevertheless, his misuse, or lack of use, of Williams this season could have been disastrous, and he really should not have sacrificed the club's future based on his own philosophy of how every player should play.

The question of team selection is something which may need to be reviewed at a later date. However this is not the time to speculate on what might or might not have happened had Williams played more games. The only thing which matters for the club is the game on Saturday and the players and manager need 100% support in what is arguably the most important game in the club's history. Hopefully Williams bags a hattrick. I hope we get a huge crowd and we are all celebrating Saturday night. Good time for regular supporters to bring a friend to the game.

Personally I wouldn't be too critical of the manager regards Williams. His early season form and attitude when he failed to make an impression Nicholson had problems all over the pitch and was looking for reasons and answers to many problems. In recent weeks the team has found another level and Williams has benefited from that new found belief. When the team was struggling it wasn't only goals we were lacking we simply were not creating enough. Suddenly for whatever reason the players are inspired and Brett is riding the wave and just look how he raised his game last Easter Monday when he had that goal chalked off controversially and went on to play his best game like a man on a mission. His mind is right at the moment lets hope he can give us a clear edge on Saturday. Credit to our back line as well which has been the catalyst for our upturn in form and better fortune with the much maligned Shaun McGinty proving to be the rock in the middle we hoped he would and has continued to improve as the season has gone on. He cam here looking a bit like a lost sheep and now has an air of a winner about him.
