OK, I'll expand. What is the point of showing old clips of mindless violence, resulting in someone needing to be removed on a stretcher? The thread title is 'Footage from 70s V Exeter', except there is no footie, just some idiot running on the pitch, and a supporter getting hurt. History. Like watching World at War or The Beginning of the Third Reich on telly.

The thread title in this case was misleading I disagree. Whilst I would far rather see the highlights of Willie Brown's basketball skills against Grimsby, I am interested in anything that shows Torquay United players on the pitch. I was disappointed here because I couldn't recognise any players and soon realised it wasn't Torquay. But I would rather have access to "possible sightings" to judge for myself. Football culture in the 70s was what I grew up in. Looking back now it is shocking, but none the less interesting. I have nostalgia for the football of the 70s, because most people have a strong attachment to what they experienced as they were growing up. The football was mostly sh*t, the violence was sh*t but it was the sh*t that I grew up with.

Football or non football related ...I think fans running onto a pitch is still just as interesting as football footage....the old players were there , footage of a old grounds ect ect. I love anything tufc history related even if it's wrong...thats the job of us all history people I'm a busy with work and have some more stuff to upload so watch this space

Yes any old footage is always appreciated. I know Jon found those lovely old british pathe film clips of the Leeds and Spurs games from the 50s and 60s. However i would love to know if any old TSW or Westward TV as it was back then local football highlights from the 70s have survived. They usually lasted only 2 or 3 minutes at the end of the evening regional news. I certainly remember the home game against Grimsby in 77...the game when Willie Brown blatently controlled the ball with his hand and ran on to score in a game we won 3 1 with commentary from a loud Chris Fear. Highlights of the Newcastle cup game away in 79 were also shown but i guess that was courtesy of Tyne Tees television at the time maybe. The majority of the games covered featured Plymouth and Exeter i think but on the odd occasion after we had seen Chis Fear up on the gantry on the Saturday we just had to catch the last 5 minutes of Mondays local news...
