I don't think I have seen any mention of this locally but the Head of Sports Science at Leicester City is former Torquay United youth team player and TBGS alumnus Paul Balsom. Fitness and conditioning played a huge part in Leicester's triumph. Here's a recent press cutting. I would post the link, but it's the Daily Mail and I don't want to encourage them. Paul Balsom - The English Swede Described once as a sort of inverse Sven-Goran Eriksson, Balsom has been working with the Swedish national team since 1998, and currently combines his roles with both them and Leicester.
While Reeves is the man in charge of implementing the data and making it work in real life, Balsom helps develop the methods in sports science and performance analysis.
Currently in his second spell at Leicester, Balsom is head of sports science at a club that seems to be turning it into an art, and manages a large team of specialists. |
