As self confessed fans of TUFC I would have thought that the board would be concerned about the future of the club and not their own financial gain. I thought they wanted to save the club, not line their own pockets? Didn't TU Fans Ltd say the board wanted £500,000? I don't think anyone could claim the current board are attempting to line their pockets. Perhaps TUF Ltd (unless you misread it maybe?) would like to clarify exactly who that £500k was due to? Someone (Jon perhaps?) used a good analogy. Think of the club as a car crash. The current board took on the task of performing first aid/cpr to the injured until the ambulance arrived. Alas, all the ambulances are out on other tasks and while you can keep up cpr for a while, its bloody tiring after too long and you have to get someone else to carry it out while you recover. I take my hat off to them to be honest. It's not a financial gamble I would have taken, and I've been supporting them since my days at Homelands school next door (that dates me!!) so could be considered a lifelong fan as well.....

I'm not quite sure that was how Jon meant his analogy. I'm unconvinced his analogy was particularly flattering to the current incumbents. Pretty sure that he meant that the board sent the ambulances away because the board felt they didn't need them, as they thought they knew best but now it's too late. Something like that anyway. Maybe Jon can repost and explain for clarity!!!

Maybe Jon can repost and explain for clarity!!! It was and it wasn't. It was acknowledging the good work that they did but pointing out that it may very well have all been for nothing. I think that they bought the club the time to find a long-term solution, but have then sat on the problem until we are right back to where we started so that time may now be against finding a long-term solution.

Frankly, I am quite unimpressed with what I have read from Torquay Fans Limited.
They don't seem to understand the legal / land issues at all.
They don't seem to know what due diligence is - I can't believe that the club has opened its books to them.
They have invented links between Gaming International and Peter Masters that just are not there.
They have questioned the integrity of the current board.
I cannot think of anyone I have talked to about all of this who has doubted the current board's good intentions, so they will not rally widespread support behind such a position.
I do not for one minute think that Dave Phillips is in this for personal gain.
Dave Phillips has to make decision which will decide the future of the club. Somehow I don't think that Torquay Fans Limited will be top of his list of people to listen to.
But I do hope that he will listen to genuine concerns of supporters.
I don't want this to end with no sport and no stadium and then bring up the fact that it is exactly what happened with Gaming International ventures in Bristol, Milton Keynes, Reading (and probably Swindon by then). I would rather bring that up before it is too late.

Couple of articles from Dave Thomas. One is the Roberts Factor and confirms that this was the only time the club ownership has been out of South Devon previously - link Also a bit more news from Dave Phillips about the thought processes on the take over - here I get the sense that the board genuinely believe that this is the way forward and I really hope they are right. As with all things, there is a risk element in this change of ownership, particularly when fans consider their previous track record and have doubts how things will eventually pan out....
