Under the circumstances not a bad point, and a clean sheet! Yellow army also in good voice. Well done.

Decent point away from home - shame Halifax won (level on points now, with a worse GD than us?)

Progress?
My old dad used to say that if they could win at home and draw away it would put you near the top. Not sure that's true in todays leagues but this must be a valuable point.
Sounds like it was a dire game to watch. A shame for those that made the trek but sometimes it's better to grind out the points.

I'm sure that is still true, but the main problem is that we don't normally even get as much as a draw at home. A point away is a good result in isolation, but as each week goes by and the games start running out we have got to start making up ground not standing still. A tough home game coming up and I would guess the bookies would make Wrexham favourites to win it, and with both Halifax and Kidderminster having winnable home games the same day, we could find ourselves bottom of the pile by 5.45 Saturday. Hope not, but it is the reality of where we stand and how we are playing.

Given our dire position a draw has to be grabbed with open arms. I see that the two main teams in Devon have done it yet again, one scoring in the fourth minute of extra time and the other scoring in the third minute of extra time! They have of course been doing this for bloody decades it seems. We of course find it difficult to score in 90 minutes let alone 3 or 4 minutes of extra bloody time!
On a lighter note: I see they have possibly discovered the tomb of the great Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, which if true, will make the finding of King Tut's tomb miniscule in comparison. They recently discovered two tombs behind the tomb of King Tut. One as I have mentioned is possibly Queen Nefertiti, which they haven't opened yet. The other one which they opened yesterday was also a major find. When King Tut had his sarcophagus opened his body was found to be covered in gold. When they opened the new sarcophagus yesterday, the body was found to be covered with chocolate and hazel nuts! So they now reckon they have at last found the tomb of the great King...Pharaoh Rocher!

That's how I'd view yesterday's result and display as well. The circumstances which saw no Fisher, Fairhurst or Marsh available suggested we were going into the game without too many players likely to get us a goal. Braintree are still only 3 points off the play off positions and with a game or two in hand of some teams above them, so coming home with a point is more than reasonable.
Well organised and drilled, it's clear that the team worked hard at defending as a unit. What time would the players alarm clocks had have to sound if they'd had to set off in the dark yesterday morning for a coach journey up to Braintree before the match ? Under those circumstances, I'm sure the cohesion would have had to be disrupted with Super Kev having to make two or maybe three substitutions. A good night's sleep for his players not too far from the ground, and Kev was able to field an eleven who were fit and fresh enough to play the whole match on a difficult surface. A tribute to the players willingness to drive up themselves in their own vehicles, as well as the improved fitness levels Kev's training regime is bringing about.
The old maxim of win at home, draw away, was certainly one to follow back in the days of two points for a win, and is still a useful sequence of results to get into these days if you can manage it. We need to get a more generous sprinkling of wins in amongst our results, and at home especially we'll see a more adventurous approach geared to achieving that, hopefully with a combination of Wright, Fairhurst or Marsh etc being able to capitalise on chances created.
A lot of hard work went into winning yesterday's point. I'm expecting the team to be every bit as committed to the cause next Saturday when they attempt to beat Wrexham.

And in those two games 6 ex Torquay players played at some point yesterday,a shocking statistic of how we have declined as a club

I can't create a thread for today's game but needed to divert us from 'Norman'. Anyone there today?
