Yesterday we deserved to win but only because we were less bad than Altrincham. Dont take this as an endorsement of the management, but surely a win against any team is because we play "less bad" (or better) than the opposition. And lets face it, you can only play better (or less bad) than the opposition in front of you on the day. There are obviously occasions when we will be the better team but, because of some freak decision by a official or error by a player, we dont win. I havnt seen many matches like that over the years though, although I remember a couple from our 1st season back in the league (after our last conference outing) where I wondered how the hell we didnt win when we were so much better than the opponents. It was sort of meant as an Orwellian-style opposite to ungood. Saying we played 'better' somehow has connotations that we played well. In my view we didn't, we just were not as crap. Hence 'less bad', if you see what I mean.
