A bitter pill to swallow. The downfall was missing a hatful of chances, particularly in the second half. They hadn't really threatened our goal and then a worldly shot straight in the top right corner that Seabright could only Palm onto the post and in. I think Ajala is one of the best players in the side and works his socks off week in, week out. Could have had a hat trick on another day but not passing to Bowman a few minutes earlier to them scoring with the goal at his mercy was a bad mistake.... Mind you, after Bowman missed an open goal in the first half (albeit in an offside position) Toby probably thought there was no point. At the time though, I was hacked off with his selfishness. Bowman is becoming increasingly weak for me. Lots of runs, often offside and scores very few. I would prefer Briscoe every day of the week. Why is he always a sub? Chappell was poor in my opinion but redeemed himself with the goal.........then a few minutes later reverted to type and sent a cross high and over the bar. A poor performance today and one that doesn't bode well for the second half of the season. Very little confidence flowing through the players right now and I think we could even slip into the lower half of the table if things don't improve. Maybe we can have a cup run........ |

Couldn't make it today just had the worse flue bug I can ever remember.
Didn't miss much by the sounds of things.
God we are poor at the moment 3 wins in 15 league games is relegation form with many teams around us with multiple games in hand we are sure to be nearer the bottom than the top soon.
Without that early season form that created a points buffer and led us all into a false sense of security we would be struggling around the relegation zone.
As a team we are just going backwards, no form whatsoever and any belief that was there is fast disappearing.
Cant see any light at the end of the tunnel either.
Bowman has lost his scoring boots Young s performances which were inspirational early in the season have slipped back average at best.
Briscoe has had the odd flash of form and then returns to type. No consistency whatsoever.
Come on Greavsy get this lot motivated again been behind you from day one but I am beginning to have my doubts.

Never mind always the fa trophy and little bromley at home next saturday who are more than capable of turning us over didnt bother going today just knew they would struggle club going down hill rapidly

Would agree that confidence is low but particularly in front of goal as performance overall was good with many chances being created and should have won that at a canter.... |

Very good to see over two thousand turning up yesterday despite not enjoying the best run of form. Im looking forward to this intriguing Trophy game against Bromley on Saturday. I should imagine the knockers will be salivating at the mouth at the possibility of Torquay losing this game !

Not overly impressed by CH publicly lambasting Ajala, referring to him as 'selfish'. Best done behind closed doors, if at all. Ajala, as with the majority of the squad, is young and relatively inexperienced. They need to learn from their mistakes, yes, but also spared from public dressing downs. Confidence is low enough as it is.

With the vice-chairman publicly lambasting players and manager on the terraces and the manager publicly lambasting his players in the media, it does all have a feel of impending implosion at Plainmoor. If rumours about Levi Ives are true as well, then it just adds fuel to a simmering fire. It is staggering to think that we have dropped 5 points against Alfreton. |

CH said that 'a "selfish" decision by winger Toby Ajala cost them a win against Alfreton', which was 2 minutes before they equalised. He obviously feels no-one in the side was to blame for that goal, which is hard to believe. Or is he saying that the miss gave the ball back to Alfreton from which they scored? If so, the glaringly obvious mistake with that is that they would have also gotten the ball back if Ajala had scored. When a manager starts publicly blaming players, it never ends well.

There's a bloke stands near me who appears to hate everyone and everything connected with Torquay United. Never misses a game, of course. When Buckle was under pressure in autumn 2011, he turned up for the match against Wimbledon literally rubbing his hands with glee, cracking into a rare pleased-with-himself smile after he managed to shoehorn in a 'Get lost, Buckle!' shout before kick-off. When the first United goal went in he was fuming, ranting about Wimbledon's poor defending. Similarly angry responses followed for the second and third goals, and by the time our fourth went in he was reduced to glaring at the pitch with his arms folded. Hoping for something similar on Saturday. |

I wonder if it was the same bloke that kept shouting "sort it out Buckle" around the same time, when the opposition at one match (Cheltenham I think), started coming back into the game. At the time we were 3 up so it seemed rather pointless but still made me smile...
