This is a tough draw in a competition that we desperately need to progress in and although we are scoring a couple of goals per game, the defence has to be tightened up if we are to progress.
Aldershot are not on a great run themselves losing to Braintree, Chester and Dover balanced by wins against Lincoln and Alfreton and draws with Gateshead and Bristol Rovers! Brett Williams is their top scorer with seven but no one else has more than two to their name. To this end, they have just signed Dan Holman from Colchester to supplement their attack along with clearance to play in the FA Cup! He knows this division well having scored 13 with Braintree last year and also having a loan spell with Wrexham. I think Oastler will be in defence for them but Lathrope is out with a groin injury and they have Manny Oyeleke on loan from Brentford to cover. They also have Kieran Forbes and Plainmoor scorer Joe N'guessan on loan to supplement the side also suffering from injuries to Tonkin, Hatton and Phillips.
Main team news for Torquay is that star man and captain Luke Young is suspended and I think Wakefield, who has extended his youth loan for another fortnight until his 21st birthday will partner Richards in central midfield. Hargreaves has talked about making changes but suspect they will be minimal will obvious contenders for a starting place being Ofori-Acheampong, Chappell and Pearce!

No Luke Young to save our bacon today unfortunately not convinced by the starting line up and we will have to up our game in all departments in the second period to stand any chance. One plus though is that Seabright is having a very good half though Cruise's defending has reverted to type.

Poor draw and out played. AGAIN absoloutly no chance if you keep shipping poor goals. Without Young driving the midfield we are looking very average even at this level which is a real concern. Not sure where we will end up in the league now - not confident after this dreadful run of results.

The only plus point today was Jordan Seabright, who looked competent and assured and pulled off two very good saves in the first half. Defending for their first from a corner was non-existent leaving a tap in along the ground for Josh Scott. Seabright was on his line, but entitled to expect at least one defender to attack that ball.
Wouldn't mind seeing their second again as their 23 was possibly offside in front of Cruise in the build up. Linesman wouldn't have known either way as he consistently failed to keep up with play all afternoon. Yeoman looked alright when he came on, I suppose. Although he looked to be carrying a bit of extra weight. Ajala ok at times. Seabright deservedly got applause at the end and hope he gets to feature a bit more now. That's that for another year.
Not happy they stuck us in the corner, but with only 258 taking up Thea's offer, it's probably fair enough. If we did have a hotel stop then we'll probably have to walk next time after that performance.
Seabright 7.5 (solid debut. one reaction save was exceptional. good distribution.) Tonge 3.5 (poor) Downes 4 (poor) MacDonald 5 (one of two defenders near the ball that dropped at Scott's feet for the opener) Cruise 5 (if their second wasn't offside, i reserve the right to dock him another .5)
Ajala 5.5 (flashes of good play at times) Richards 4.5 (like him, but poor today) Wakefield 5.5 (hope we can extend his loan for cover. he was swearing at some of travelling support at the end, apparently. didn't see it.) Briscoe 5.5 (showed some urgency, at least. daughter thought he looked ok.)
Ofori-Acheampong 4 (nuisance value, but didn't getgoing today) Bowman 3 (dreadful)
Subs used: Cameron 3.5; (what's happened? is he injured?) Yeoman 6 (lively and lardy) and Chapell (not on long enough to assess)

Was not sure whether to go today, talked myself in to it, really wish I hadn't. It really was a poor performance, we neither had the guile or the guts to break down a solid Aldershot team. As others have pointed out, the only bright point was the debut of Seabright who looked assured and pulled off one remarkable save in the first half. The rest of the side were really not at the races today, and a few even looked remarkably disinterested, all very frustrating. Bowman in particular was poor, could not hold the ball up at all and contributed very little else - why CH kept him on and removed Briscoe I do not know. This really is a worrying run we are on at the moment and CH has a job on his hands to turn it around. The very annoying thing is that today represented a opportunity to boost the coffers, money that may have been spent bringing in a loan or two later on in the season. Lord knows on today's performance we need them! On a slightly different note, I noticed that Pearce and Chappell seemed content to sit in the dug out at half time whilst the other subs were out on the pitch kicking the ball around - could they not be bothered? Whatever the reason it hardly sent out a message that they were primed and ready to go if needed!!

258 of us witnessed a shocking under performance, and a first for the club i believe, the only time we have not featured in the first round since 1927.Nothing to add, reports done seem about right. As far as wakefield is concerned he got some unwarranted verbal abuse aimed at him at the end of the game, shame because 9 others were as much to blame if not more than him.The team performances are going down hill rapidly,i am now unsure that hargreaves is the man for this job

That season we went out in the First Qualifying Round 2-1 away to Taunton Town in a replay after a 1-1 draw at Plainmoor. Things are not going to get any better. If we accept applications for a job from the comfort of a television studio when there is no job vacancy, then we deserve everything that is happening. No score updates on Sky or the BBC website today because the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup are insignificant to them. To me now, although I had a 'Dear John' letter today from the Rugby World Cup 2015 ticket allocation people telling me my application for tickets was not successful, it's rugby for me in the future. This football club is sending me to an early grave, and with a bus pass already that means time is limited. Rugby is played with smiles on the faces of the players and spectators, and is a real spectacle of sporting endeavour which people like Luke Young doing the half time draw at Home Park today after his indiscipline led to him not being available today, could not possibly ever live up to.

For what ever reason Luke Young should have been at Aldershot with the team and not at Home Park undertaking the half-time draw. Money must be so tight as most other clubs including Aldershot (I believe) have strenghtened their squads and any chance we had of doing the same (after being dumped out of the cup) are well and truly gone. This coupled with the apparent couldn't give a sh*t attitude by some players is very worrying.
