Southend's convincing win over Oxford on Monday was their first since January 18th, after a run of 13 matches without a win. However, many of those were draws; indeed, they are now unbeaten in their last 4 matches, and haven't conceded in their last 3.
Line-up vs Oxford
Gk Daniel Bentley Def John White Def Ryan Leonard Def John Egan Def Jakub Sokolik Mid Ben Coker Mid Michael Timlin Mid Will Atkinson Mid Kevan Hurst For Jamar Loza For Lee Barnard
Subs: Phil Smith (Gk), Luke Prosser (Def), Anthony Straker (def), Marc Laird (Mid), Conor Clifford (Mid), Jack Payne (Mid), Freddy Eastwood (For)
Head-to-head:
Southend wins - 37 Torquay wins - 28 Draws - 28
Last match: Torquay 1-0 Southend (Marquis 50), League Two, December 2013
Last match at Roots Hall: Southend 1-1 Torquay (Eastwood 9; Labadie 45), League Two, March 2013
Last Southend win at Roots Hall: Southend 4-1 Torquay (Ferdinand 47, 54; Dickinson 66; Phillips 71; Mansell 77), League Two, October 2011
Last Torquay win at Roots Hall: Southend 1-2 Torquay (Woods 3; Graham 11; Dudfield 17), Division Three, May 2004
(a reminder that this club did actually do well once upon a time...)

Can't see much more than a defeat by 3 or 4 goals from this one - just kind of feel we will not get much between now and May 3 and most likely will have fallen through the trap door before the season ends - sad times indeed.

Well, the cavalry has arrived...a midfielder and a striker! I thought about changing my PL score for tomorrow, but with the midfielder crook for tomorrows game and the striker only getting about ten minutes game time as a sub, chasing that elusive equaliser after we go one down after ten minutes, I think i'll keep my prediction as a 1:0 loss!
Of the three teams above us, (that's all the ones we need to worry about now) I see Northampton and Portsmouth getting draws, and poor old Wycombe getting thumped, so nothing to worry about there!
Isn't it just typical of Torquay to start their climb out of the bottom two against the top team (they will be when they play us) Scunthorpe!

Quite some supporter is "hullgull", the day he admits defeat we will be down and out. I think we could win our last four games but even that wouldn´t put us up to 50 points. We need at least 2 points from our next 2 games. Up United!

Pleased with Coulthirst signing. He must play. He will not adapt to Benyon's wavelength, as I doubt many well schooled players would. He could, however, benefit from Stockley knock downs. And as with any striker, he'll need service. That may be a problem. Will try and rearrange work tomorrow to get to Southend now.
We have to go for it. I'd go 3-1-4-2 to start, with an outfield as follows:-
.......O'Connor Pearce Downes....... ................Lathrope............... .....Bodin Harding Craig Cameron...... ...........Stockley Coulthirst.............

So who will play alongside our new striker? Bodin, undoubtedly the more gifted of our bunch and Shaq maybe just the man to get something out of him. Only problem he goes missing for long periods in games and if he makes a mistake loses the ball all passes to an opponent it usually sets the pattern. Anyone suggesting Craig in midfield hasn't seen him of late last week looked terrible when he arrived on as sub and didn't look up for the fight and just drifted out of the game. We need fighters who will give it their all, take responsibility, get involved and not just wait for somebody else to make things happen if we have that then we have a chance.
Anyway you ex Tweenaway buy's are dafter than us Highweek buy's if you think we're going to get out of this mess! ;-)

So let me get this right...Hawley is a better player than the guy from Spurs...i'm lost for words...a good job I didn't change my PL score...i'm off to do some gardening!
