What can anybody really say about this match! I would imagine it will go like the previous ones. We'll have one or two glorious chances to score in the first half...of course we won't take them. Fleetwood will realise rather quickly that we couldn't hit a cow in the c**t with a musket, and will push forward and score...game over!
How prophetic. Can you pick my lottery numbers for tonight!!! Nearly went to the game today but got home late yesterday and was knackered this morning. Glad I didn't. Not sure I will bother while Coco and the rest of the clowns that make up our board are running our club. Next season is going to be very tough with so many ex league clubs that are trying to find their way back. CH hasn't made any difference to our performances or results since his arrival. Not that I expected him to so he's proved me right and to come out with some of the comments that he has recently sucks of misguided bravado or pure stupidity. I know he is working with one hand tied behind his back but I don't see any progression with him at the helm. Well done to the board for all the excellent decisions they have made over the last couple of years. I salute you (tongue firmly in cheek) they couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery (not sure CH can either) |

Same old story today and it's the story of our whole season. We just cannot score and to be frank today we never looked like scoring. Torquay had the bulk of possession today and did not really deserve to lose. Their best hope today was in the second half when Ladbadie appeared to be fouled in the penalty box when through on goal - the referee instead gave a corner! Crowd 2,200+ who I thought got behind the team today, 100+ from Fleetwood. Sponsors MOTM Downes, Twitter MOTM our new big bruiser striker Enoch.
Torquay played 4-3-3 in the first half and kicked towards the Family stand. Again Hargreaves and co. preferred the away dug-out. Torquay had a lively opening but clear chances were few and far between. Downes, our centre-half leading scorer which says everything, had our best effort with a long range effort that just fizzed over. Fleetwood offered very little and Torquay were on top but rarely tested their keeper. A Ladbadie free-kick was no more than a daisy cutter that their keeper saved comfortably. When we did get in a half decent position normally the final ball / cross was wasteful. Enoch put his strength about pretty well and won some headers but like Hawley and Benyon I cannot recall any notable attempts from our strike force.
The second half opened up more and it was quite a watchable game. Mansell had a triple chance in the penalty area. But Rice had to come to Torquay's rescue twice saving us from certain goals. The first he saved brilliantly on a one-on-one and the other he got his boot on a goal bound shot to keep it out. They were the warning signs that Fleetwood looked capable of scoring. Fleetwood used all their subs and so did Torquay as we switched to 4-4-2. Substitute Stockley and Enoch were prefered up front with subs Cameron and Chapell on the wings. I thought of all our subs only Cameron made an impression. However on 74 minutes a well threaded ball put their striker through and this time Rice could not be our saviour. Torquay tried hard for the rest of the match, it looked like we should have had a penalty when Ladbadie was chopped down. We had lots of corners and free-kicks but even after 5 minutes of added time we could not score. Ladbadie had a decent chance in added time but it was saved. Fleetwood did some unsavoury tactics, a bit like Crawley under Evans, but came out undeserved winners. At one stage Cameron got through on the left and he was cynically pulled back.
So no surprises, we could not score and we lost again. We know we are effectively down already so I am past getting irate over it. I'm pleased our starting line-up only had one loanee and I thought there was a good team spirit and the crowd made a pretty good atmosphere. But whoever we choose - we do not have enough shots at goal and we cannot score.

How did we lose that? I guess I'll never know Fleetwood have one chance and took it, we bombard their goal and just get no luck where it matters. Very much the story of the season other than the fact we played pretty well for the most part and were totally committed in all areas. If we had shown this commitment and desire from day one I doubt we would be in this mess but the story has nearly been told now and come the day of reckoning it wont be a pleasant read.
It was a good game of football to watch for a change the pitch has improved considerably as you would expect so I would have expected to see at least one wide man from the stat but no Benyon and Hawley got the nod though neither got much change out of a tough Fleetwood back line. Both worked their socks off for little reward with Showumni an excellent foil who, although a little ungainly at times showed as a target man with some noce touches in the air and on the ground. Few chances and a pretty even first half and it was all to play for after the break but the longer irt went on without us scoring the more you realised that Fleetwood would only need one chance to see us off and so it was to be when Matt was sloped through by the experienced great lump of a footballer Parkin on seventy three minutes and it was more or less game over. Hargreaves changed things just before the goal, understandable as we had to go for a win and Hawley despite his endevour was getting nowhere down the left and was replaced by Cameron. Mansell and Benyon followed for Chapell and Stockley. It may have disrupted the shape just momentarily just before they scored but hey were down the bottom and just as it looked like we had another certain penalty turned down after they scored you never seem to get any rub of the green week after week. The subs all did ok and tried their best and we had one or two half chances the pen shout being the best to equalise we penned them in for the last quarter but we had no cutting edge against a very resolout and tough defense.
Not our day once again and you start to wonder when the hell will it be our day again as we lurch from one defeat to another. Two wins at home in a season with a handful of goals scored and you can see where our problems lie. If you cant hit the onion bag you always going to struggle as we did again today. Defensively I thought we were immense today Pearce and Downes both superb and dominated their forwards so no complaints there Tonge also had a good game biut is never going to be a game changer in any respect. Nico distraught at the final whistle and he certainly put it in. Enjoyed the game, it had passion and commitment and we did look like we wanted it which is all you can ask.
Shame about the result but no complaints from me.

A great post Pete.....good to read the positives and commitment.from the game......a mate just foned me and said we should have had a pen....alas when things are against you you don't get the decisions.....but with the desire....the players are giving there all....know it's hard guys but got to keep going...it ain't over yet....si |

Not the most galling home defeat of the season, but another one never the less! |

i have absolutely no worries about us fitting into the style of football required to play in the conference,as we are already playing that way.Committed yes,tried hard yes,unlucky yes,but its been the same old same old all season,you just knew fleetwood would nick it.Hargreaves post match radio interview,he states,you keep beating the drum,keep beating the drum but,we know hargreaves its been like this for ages.But give em their dues at least they tried to entertain us today,something that has been lacking for almost every home again this year.
Its going to be a long long time before the football league sees us again,if ever

not expecting anything different tonight,sub league standard performance from the team who are by miles the worst league 2 team,infact our worst league squad ever imho.2 0 rochdale at a canter,who are a massive club compared to ours,on second thoughts they are not,but are run properly and spend their funds on essentials like a bit of quality in players,something we didnt bother to do.Roll on the end of this pathetic and forgetful season,it cant come quick enough
