link - after a few weeks of cup football back to the main business of league football. Tough match away to a team on the same points as us where we need a result to keep in touch with the leaders. Without both Richards and Wyatt for the next month but still have options in the squad. Leading 2-1 at half time

link - Sounds like a hard fought 1-0 win for the women at home against Bristol Rovers courtesy of a goal from Mia Preston to cap off a good TUFC day all round. Interview from the opposition manager below: link

link - match report on TUFC website together with feedback from manager Steve Elwood. Good win with the women now having played all the other 4 top teams in the league with a chance of promotion in a difficult start to the season which will even itself out. They have beaten Bristols Rovers and Forest Green, drawn against Bishops Lydeard with just an opening away defeat to leaders Sherborne. Anyway, break from league action now as they are in first round FA cup action against Warminster next Sunday.

Well deserved victory today with Torquay having the majority of clear-cut chances. Dominated both possession and territory in the first quarter of the game with Bishop and Richards both having opportunities to score before Bishop turned provider after being put through by Cross and her ball across the box and was well left by Richards who wasn’t in such a good position as Preston who lashed the ball home into the bottom corner of the net. No more than we deserved and although as the half went on Warminster did try to apply pressure they were well marshalled by our defence with Hunt doing her usual sterling work in the centre.
Again in the second half Torquay started in the ascendancy with more attacking threat until eventually a ball knocked behind their back line saw Bishop use her pace to pounce and made no mistake to slot the ball pass their keeper for that all important two-goal cushion. Warminster tried in vain to come back, not helped by one of their players looking like she broke her leg and having to be stretchered off. Their best chance came from lovely curling free kick that just needed a touch to slot home but evaded everyone to narrowly go wide of the far post. Not too much quality from Warminster today and it ended up being a workmanlike performance from Torquay to continue their best ever FA Cup run.

link - new signing for the squad! “The yellows would like to announce a new signing and a big welcome to the club to Anthea Kaptein. Tee joins us from a brief spell with Ilminster Town having spent three years previously with Exeter City in the national league.” I see she is an attacking midfielder scoring 16 goals from 42 appearances during her time at Exeter. Don’t think she is cup tied either. Came on as a substitute against us in the Devon County Cup final earlier this year and scored a penalty in the shoot out. Welcome addition to the midfield particularly with a few injuries in the squad although with central defender Richards playing in the centre of a front three wonder if Steve Elwood has marked Andrea or Tracey Cross as going into this forward role instead, certainly while Danni Wyatt is making her way back from injury.

link - Worth noting that the women are playing at their home from home at Liverton and not the usual Coach Road venue. Tough and crucial match against Sherborne who are the only team to beat in them in the league this season back on the opening day, a team that have been top until last Sunday when they lost to Bristol Rovers. Although still six points off the top place at the moment, TUWFC have 2 games in hand, partly due to their FA Cup run and with a tough start, I would expect them to gain ground in the coming weeks. A win on Sunday would take them to within a point of second-place Sherborne with two games in hand and put them in a very good position for a promotion push.

link - not sure how Steve has managed this but Connie Pengelly, ECFC top scorer this season has just signed for TUWFC!!! Certainly a growing contingent of ex ECFC players are now wearing yellow as the squad continues to be strengthened. Think Connie will be cup tied in the FA Cup next Sunday if the rules are the same as the men.
