Look like im the first one back then. Excellent battling performance tonight. Players and manager deservedly applauded off. Hard to single out any one player in particular as they pretty much all put a good shift in. Mozzy and Manse battled really well in the centre with Mozzy showing some sublime touches. Marquis looks a good forward and Benners ran his socks off again, and was in the right place to take the goal. Chappel hit a beauty that bounced off the bar. Dont really want to slag the ref off too much but weve had exactly the same type of handball twice this season and the refs have just waved play on. Play like that the rest of the season and we will be safe.

For some strange reason I am looking forward to this one! COYY!!! Masochist Actually, very enjoyable night out with a much improved performance! Genuinely thought we shaded that one and with another ref could have had all three points! Highlights were our goal which was our first chance of the game. Ball came out to Craig on the right wing who checked back onto his left foot and his deep cross was only half cleared to Mozika whose shot was saved before falling to the Fox in the box to slot home. Then came a controversial penalty, this was itself from a soft free kick from a body check a metre outside the area, near the by line. From this kick, Craig charged it down but at the last second turned his back and the ball hit his arms as he turned, his momentum just causing his arms to come away from the side off his body slightly. Very very harsh and the resulting penalty cancelled out our opening goal! Chappell's effort on goal which was flicked onto the bar after skipping past several players was probably enough to earn him MOTM on its own and would have been goal of the season hands down! In the second half some good play didn't produce too many clear cut chances but Downes had too good headers, one just wide and the other over, both coming from the left foot of Craig who makes up for the loss of Nico from the starting line up! Rice came up with a cracking save from a header on the six yard box and also another by flinging himself full stretch to the right after a shot from the edge of the box!

A much improved team performance tonight which gives me a bit of hope again. At times Torquay played some great stuff - good, inventive passing football, something I've seen little of so far this season. There was good movement off the ball. Mozika showed quality in the middle and Craig on the right gave some great deliveries. The new boy Marquis looked a good target man but you can see why he gets lots of bookings - he does give away free-kicks from challenges.
My first observation this evening was seeing Nicholson sat in the stand with O'Kane - I think we've seen the last of Nico in a Troquay shirt. Then I looked around to observe loads of empty yellow seats. I'm afraid yet again the decision to make the match all ticket killed the home crowd. I even noticed some supporters being turned away outside the ground not realising there were no tickets sold on the day. So what should have been a 5,000+ crowd was just 3,866.
Torquay took the lead after just 6 minutes when Benyon fired in the rebound at an angle after McCormick parried a low shot. But just 3 minutes later Tonge gave away a free-kick on our right just outside the penalty area. The free-kick came over with venom and hit Craig's arm who was in the wall. There were no appeals and the referee very harshly pointed to the penalty spot. The penalty was converted down the middle. Torquay were the better team for the first half, the highlight being a magnificant run and long range shot by Chappel that McCormick just tipped onto the bar. It would have been one of the best ever goals seen at Plainmoor.
The second half, Plymouth had more pressure. They hit the post from a corner and Rice made a magnificent save from a free-kick that was well struck. Torquay still had good moments but did not have too many clear chances. Azeez came on for Benyon but soon went off injured to be replaced by Hawley.
It was a decent derby match that I would say overall Torquay edged. Plymouth were no great shakes but in McCormick they have a class keeper. There were signs tonight that things are coming together for Torquay as the play at times was very good.

We simply MUST build on this though and take the example of Accrington who won again tonight. For the players Its all about developing some consistency now for us if we want to see a league football team in Torquay encouraging at every opportunity no matter what some may think of the manager or individual players.. It can be turned around I am convinced of that its essential the fans, manager and players start pulling together and start rebuilding the players confidence .

Much much better than the last two utterly hopeless efforts at Plainmoor. We actually looked like a team which had some idea what it was supposed to be doing.
Mozika starting to look match fit - and for once we were not overrun in midfield.
The negative is that we still did not win - at home against a very poor side. We need a win or two very soon.

Yes, results are key but quite a few positives. Best I've seen Mozika and Craig is ending the year as he started it, on the wing - the accuracy of his crosses are creating chances and of course led to the goal! Can we keep O'Connor to the end of the season?

Well, well, well, (did I need to put a comma after each of those wells?) we have found some passion at last. Again though we missed a trick (and the goal) and didn't win the game...how many times have I heard this season that we should have won a particular game!
Why can't TUFC sort out this shambles of ticketing? Turning away punters from the gates it seems, when there are over TWO THOUSAND empty seats inside! Here we are on the bones of our arse and we're turning away 18 quid a pop! Shambles!
No shouts for Knill to be booted out on any sites, so last nights game has stopped the rot in more ways than one...not that knill was going anywhere anyway!
Had something else to say but cant remember what it was. I'm sure you'll all be waiting with bated breath until I remember...oi!

Yes, as I was walking past the ticket office last night I overhead the woman politely explaining to a group of about 6 fans that no tickets were being sold on matchday. They were not trouble makers - just an ordinary family group of supporters who wanted to see a football match. I bet they won't be back in a hurry. Surely, Andrew Candy, the club should adopt a bit more commonsense on this one. It's all well and good the police advising that no tickets to be sold on the day - they would do, wouldn't they? I mean THEY don't need to worry about balancing the books and trying to run a football league club in a remote part of the country. Losing the extra income could be the difference of avoiding relegation or not or even getting into serious debt or not. And judging by the huge police prescence outside the ground and all the stewards inside the ground, they were more than equipped to deal with any disturbances.
Many supporters over the years, myself included, have been in with opposing fans. You just don't show your colours and keep a bit quieter than normal. What about if a group of people who support both teams want to watch the match together? It happens all the time. So please, Andrew Candy, can I request that at the next board meeting you should discuss how you can relax this over rigid ticketing policy. That's now the Portsmouth and the Plymouth games that the crowd potential has been ruined. I'm afraid many supporters just don't like the idea of pre-booking tickets and supporters like I witnessed last night were not aware of the ticketing policy. Not everyone keeps up-to-date of what's going on, they are just casual supporters. Just a bit of commonsense is all that is required.

I cannot see us being uncommitted for this one and and there will be a few of ours playing with their hearts on their sleeves for sure so Reg I don't believe we will be short of passion - technical ability may be but not passion for a local derby. Predict a draw 1-1. May i have your prediction for the Scunthorpe game please. Shall pop into Ladbrokes tomorrow and put a sizeable wodge on ! Could do with some extra cash this time of year. Many thanks in advance...
