I feel like I'm repeating myself: torquayfansforum.co.uk/thread/10923/rochdale-torquay-united-september-2013Rochdale are now in better form, having risen to the 4th in the league, just two points behind leaders Chesterfield. They have lost their last two matches, at Dagenham and at home to Wimbledon, but their previous 9 matches had seen them pick up 8 wins. Losing George Donnelly to a minor injury for most of those last two might have had an impact Line-up vs Wimbledon: Gk Josh Lillis Def Joseph Rafferty Def Olly Lancashire Def Jack O'Connell Def Michael Rose Mid Matthew Lund Mid Matt Done Mid Jamie Allen Mid Gary Dicker For Graham Cummins For Ian Henderson Subs: Robbie Thomson (GK), Rhys Bennett (Def), Ashley Eastham (Def), Peter Vincenti (Mid), Andrew Tutte (Mid), Scott Hogan (Mid), Bastien Hery (Mid) Unsurprisingly we've never played Rochdale outside of Football League competition Torquay wins: 37 Rochdale wins: 29 Draws: 17 The home side has won the last 7 matches between the two sides

Let's hope we can extend that sequence to eight! I think it was during their previous promotion season that we handed out that 5-0 mauling at Plainmoor which was as unlikely a result that you could get at the time and shows what can happen when the little things go your way. The majority of our wins have been on the road and against lower table opposition so a win would get a couple of monkeys off our back and show some further signs of progress.
Will be interesting to see if both Pearce and Hawley will be considered for a start but Knill will have a relatively strong bench to draw upon whoever he decides to send out.

Selfishly I'm hoping that if we do win this we draw someone up here, as I'm due to head back to Wales that weekend

Really looking forward to this one.
With the prize money available, a Cup run really makes a significant difference to the finances at a club like Torquay. We could badly do with a nice windfall to give us a bit of financial "wiggle room".
It'll be interesting to see the starting lineup - after the teamsheet has been handed in, of course.
I don't think we'll change too much from Saturday, but I've never believed in the "never change a winning team" theory.
Is Poke ready to start? If so, would Knill drop Rice?
Toss-up between Hawley and Benyon.
Will Pearce return? I was surprised he was left out last week, but the fact is we have three very good centre-backs available now so something has to give. If O'Connor is comfortable anywhere across the back four, we have a "perm any four from five" situation. If O'Connor is not going to stay beyond the end of the month, it might make sense to give both Pearce and Tonge a break before they will be needed to play every game.
Any news on Cameron's fitness? It would be nice to have an extra attacking option on the bench - I guess Craig (or possibly Cruise) would drop out of the 18.

Perhaps fair to say that our line up tomorrow will be stronger than when we last played up there as seen below! Looks like Cameron will be fit and perhaps more likely to supplant Craig on the bench which is a pity as came on in our victory last weekend..
Torquay United 13 Rice 02 Tonge 03 Nicholson (Cruise - 86' ) 04 Downes 05 Pearce 07 Mansell 08 Harding 10 Bodin 12 Chapell (Sullivan - 84' ) 09 Hawley 16 Ball Substitutes 34 Lavercombe 20 Craig 21 Cruise 06 Lathrope 11 Cameron 31 Sullivan 14 Yeoman

After a few showers this morning the weather is really shaping up nicely and should be a good afternoon to be at Plainmoor!!!! Coyy Wish I could be there. Unfortunately I have a 2pm work appointment in Plymouth which should take about 45 minutes, getting me home just after kick off. Always a favourite fixture for me as Torquay United v Rochdale was the first game I saw in September 1963. A 1-0 win for the Gulls, and after that in the 1960's and 1970's we always seemed to beat them in both the third and fourth divisions. Let's hope we can repeat that cracking 5-0 from April 2010 when they came to us with 1500 away fans as league leaders. No. Let's go one better! FA Cup 1st Round: Torquay United 6 Rochdale 0

Quite blowy though and from the south west. Expect it to be a bit of a struggle for the keeper at the babbacombe end...
