It feels a bit weird not participating in these but possibly worth reflecting on them as it affects who will play next year.
Coming from below, the BSP PO Final features the two welsh teams of Newport and Wrexham. In our division, Northampton beat Cheltenham 1-0 at home in their first leg and Burton travelled to Bradford and beat them 2-3 although after being three up will be kicking themselves somewhat. Might be worth looking into the above division where Westcountry team, Yeovil have done well to get into the play offs although they lost their first leg 1-0 away at Sheffield United although still have got it all to play for back at Huish Park!
I haven't got any preference for these teams apart from a selfish geographical preference so if Newport can win and Cheltenham lose then that adds to the number of potential away days without having to get back at stupid o'clock! Is anyone following or has a grudge against any of the above teams and why?

At the Sheffield United v Yeovil match last night. A decent game to watch for £15 but I can't help thinking that the winner will come from the Brentford/Swindon semi-final. Neither the Blades nor the Glovers looked particularly inspiring, but it's a pleasant change to see a big city club and a small town one meeting on equal terms. United's financial situation means they are relying much more on their own local yougsters these days rather than splashing the cash about. It must be very rare, though, for a club to enter the play offs having just sacked their manager. After years of failure Blades fans seem less than captivated by the play offs this time around and the crowd was a relatively small one, albeit one which would have filled Huish Park a couple of times over.
No sign of Jordan Chapell anywhere. I wonder why they wanted him back.

Indeed, not one of the youth players used then. I wonder if Knill has his eye on him as a potential signing?

I always find South Wales a nice easy away day and of course a chance to see Newport play at a third different venue against Torquay. If it were to happen at Rodney Parade i think it would be the first time in history that both Torquay Athletic and Torquay United will have played on the same ground certainly post war and probably back to the Receation ground days. I stand to be corrected of course...... |

Well, Bradford have won their 63rd match of the season, 1-3 at Burton to go through to the POF!

This division is looking good for us next year and surely all these localish matches can't all be on a Tuesday night?

However, with their resources and income from their cup run maybe a good thing that they won't be in our division next season...... |

Many congratulations to Yeovil who have gained promotion to the championship for the first time in their history. Achieved on crowds averaging 4071which is not great for that division but still a lot more than us at present!
A few thoughts on this:
1) have they any players considered surplus to requirements that could be tempted for a local move.
2) having a westcountry team in the championship may be a source of loan signings.
3) if we were in league 1, no local derbies next year, would the away attendance be greater than that in league 2 next year.
4) anything they can do,surely we can do as well!!!!!

We would have to increase our crowds by 50% to get to that level but that sort of budget could see us compete with most - certainly wouldn't be talking about 15/16 players supplemented by youngsters......
I'm sure Rene is off and as he is on a decent wack, no doubt much improved, maybe a half decent budget to get in a front line to suit Knill's tactics.
How about a Rendall / Benyon combo anyone?

I'd be quite pleased if we sign Rendell. I was very surprised to hear of his transfer listing by Luton, though. Assume that's a money thing with a year left on his contract. Fat contract? Won't come cheap, particularly if some sort of transfer fee required by Luton.
