Make no mistake-we are in a real dog fight now!Let's hope we bring in a couple of decent loan signings this week!Important for all united fans to stick together and support the club.It's easy to be a fan when you are winning. Real supporters are needed now. four players would be good-another striker,centre back ,left back and creative midfielder as it seems Craig is out of favour |

As supporters we can do very little about this situation, except, that is to just just try and stick with it for as long as possible. Everything that can be said has been said. We have all put our arguments and feelings across and we all have different views. In the end we end up just going around in circles trying to look for answers but in all honesty its not our problem, in any case what is the point of making our views known anyway nobody listens and In any case I no longer feel valued as a supporter or a part of the football club any way. The board management and playing staff will continue to do what they think is best despite what fans say. I hope they have some answers and can get a positive response from the players in the closing stages of the season but I wont be holding my breath the damage was done months ago so the chances of salvaging it now are somewhat remote. If we do manage to survive another year it will be by the skin of our teeth and in any case we will more than likely be having the same arguments on here in twelve months time. In the final analysis and as a football club we will only get what we deserve, be that good or bad, a play off place or relegation back the black hole of non league. I'm not sure we want league football enough, you've got to want it really bad all of the time or this is what happens if you don't have that desire. The missed opportunities to try to get things back on track tells me the will and desire to be here in the football league is just not there any more and as I have said in previous posts the general public couldn't give sh*t about Torquay Utd. At the end of the day who else in the whole of the country or the footballing world would care if the worst happens to a tin pot club like ours that had a second chance and squandered it? Just the two thousand hard core supporters that's about all.  |

What can I say? The confidence has drained out of the side and not really playing as a team anymore. Didn't help that Manse was out with the runs and personally wouldn't have played two defensive midfielders together. Wycombe started the game much better and we really stuggled to even get out of our half. They had a sucession of corners with their best chance a header that hit the outside of the post. A few dodgy moments, some of which was our own making with Saah and Leadbitter getting caught when really it should have been hoofed down field long before.
The one bit of quality was when Bodin got the ball in the left hand corner and beat two defenders and laying the ball inside with Jarvis able to strike home. 1-0 when I would have been very happy to get to half time with the scores level.
We actually had our best period of the match leading up to their goal in the second half and not scoring again was what did us. The best chance was when Rene was put through on the left of the area and his cross came out to Bodin near the spot whose goal bound shot was just deflected over by their number 5 just when it seemed certain that we would score. I think we would have won if it had gone in! Other chances were a Rene header that just went over, Saah couldn't quite get on the end of a header from a corner and a cross from the left just flicked the defenders raised hand on the edge of the area that the referee missed.
Then of course, they went and scored. A break on their right saw Poke save the shot but a goal mouth scramble saw the ball slotted home. Shortly after Ainsworth crossed a ball which seem to bisect two or three defenders (maybe one should have cut it out?) and it came nicely through to their striker to smash in the net.
We couldn't get really going to reply to that with the only change being Oastler for Easton in central midfield which changed nowt! New blood is desperately required as we are now in the thick of it!!!!

shocking result against a useless wycombe team who we gifted the points too.no desire no quality no leader it was pathetic defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.But surely to god the penny has dropped we aint good enough accrington away on saturday no fear this will be lost as well making it 8 on the trot bsp form by any standards.Any signings coming our way no dont think so,in the words of our new manager just fine tuning.no mr knill a complete bloody engine overall needs doing pronto or braintree and co here we come.Anybody who thinks this present squad is going to save us is on the planet of pluto

Grim stuff, our 5 point buffer has evaporated and we are in deep trouble. I can´t see us picking up much at Accrington. More alarming is that most of the relegation-rivals picked up points again.

The other results put the tin lid on what was a terribly disappointing evening. I feel very sorry for the long term diehard supporters and the directors, at least two of whom showed up in the Gulls Nest after the match to chat with the customers. Never seen Jon so fed up. Rob (TFF manager and smashing lad) was still trying to look on the bright side but the general mood was despondent. After a defeat like that it's hard not to consider relegation a racing certainty but of course there are still plenty of points to play for and as fans we can only hope that we have reached our nadir now and the only way is up. Wycombe were the better side last night and deserved to win but I agree with Rob that we could well have gained a scrappy 3 points had we scored again during our best spell of the match. For me the turning points were the brave defending which prevented Bodin making it 2-0 and the moment when Gareth Ainsworth brought himself on as substitute, because he certainly made a difference. Obviously, all my previous posts about how we are not so bad that we are in danger were wrong. That soft centre which I mentioned was definitely evident last night and only a fool would claim otherwise. Lee Mansell gets some heavy criticism on message boards but he was badly missed; if players are in the team to win the ball and make nuisances of themselves but the opposition still seem to have loads of space around them when they get the ball and are not challenged at throw-ins etc. then the men whose job is to do just that are obviously failing. Finally, and, there's no getting away from it, the attendance was pathetic. Respect to the loyal 1700 but where the chuffing hell was everyone else? Seems to me it's not the club but the citizens of Torbay who are sleepwalking into the Conference. If you care about your football club, then for Christ's sake show up and pay your £17, because writing novellas on a message board is not an acceptable substitute for paying at the gate. |

it should never ever of come to the present situation,as been said 1700 of us hardy souls there to witness that rubbish last night,the powers to be took their eye off the ball as you say and this is now the predicament.A major gamble on getting off the field projects sorted and gambling with an inferior squad has not paid off,something that not needed to of happened.Absolutely fuming about it,as it was unwarranted,we have been sold short as supporters

The table certainly makes grim reading now. Ten minutes into the game I remarked to the guy next to me that we were getting dominated in midfield and so it proved. Wycombe were snapping at our heels all through the match and I surely thought they couldnt keep that pace up for 90 minutes but they came close. Our goal was a lovely worked move with Bodin cutting in from the wing, beating a couple of defenders and laying a ball right to Jarvis with the Wycombe defence in disarray. Cue one nil and much rejoicing. We looked comfortable enough but too many short passes were getting intercepted as Wycombe stuck to their plan of harrying us all over the pitch. They did look a very quick side and so it proved when they broke down the right, put the ball into the box and after a bit of pinball tucked it away. Pretty much the same for the 2nd catching us pressing forward, without the pinball this time and the left side is looking troubling.
I wouldnt point the finger at MacDonald but I suspect were Downes playing we may not have struggled at the back, same for midfield where Mansell would have been more effective at battling and breaking up opposition play/winning posession.
Jarvis was my MoM, not just for the goal but his overall game nominally on the right wing but much more suited playing off Rene in my opinion. Get the ball to either of them around the danger areas and weve a chance of a goal. All is not lost yet though, we really could do with pace on the right wing though, as, solid as Danny may look in defence (and quick on the overlap), his crossing leaves a lot to be desired.

fine tuning was the comment used by alan knill the other day.today its reinforcements needed.good on him its taken him two games to realise how shocking we are as a team,something many of us have known for many months.So why didnt ling or taylor notice it?good luck to him with his attempted loanee arrivals,it isnt them i am concerned about,its the lot already at the club who have caused so much damage to our league status,mostly of whom we are stuck with til end of season at the earliest.Was going to go accy on saturday for another away trip,but they aint getting any more of my money on away trips.Wycombe,rochdale,bristol rovers cheltenham aldershot was enough were but a few that we just didnt do enough in to warrant anything,i cant see accy being any different but truly hope i am wrong though

The thought of losing game number eight in a row, is not one I want to have in my head. This has been a very depressing run of results that has seen us slip right down the table and almost into the drop zone. We can’t go on losing every game, well if we did then we would deserve to go down and I just have a feeling, we might win this one.
What would three points mean to us right now? I’m sure it would seem like winning the lottery and would certainly help give a lift to poor suffering Torquay United fans. It would also restore some much needed confidence in the players and they badly need that to happen if they are going to play their part keeping league football up at Plainmoor.
Its simple really, all we have to do over the next 12 games is match or better the results of the two teams below us, lets be honest they are where they are due to not winning enough points and are they both going to go on some sort of wonder runs? Hardly likely but what we need to do is just worry about getting the points we require to stay safe and we can and must try to get something out of today’s game.
Scoring goals is our problem and one goal has so often not been enough, one does wonder where any goals are going to come from today, but we have all seen teams on bad losing runs go and win a game five nil, could that happen today? We can’t change the past results, those games are now history, we do not want to be writing in the history books today we suffered eight defeats on the trot.
I’m sure we won’t be doing that and we want to hear your thoughts and views on today’s game if you were at the game, listened to it on the radio, or just followed it on some text service.
Come on you yellows, lets end this season on a high by ensuring we remain a football league club
