i left the ground at 915 tonight.i cant stand this useless dross any longer. The last time i walked out early in a game was when we played accrington at home and lost 2-0 in bullshit roberts chairmanship. This team and tonights under performance reminded me very much of that awful time.Waste of time getting benyon in on that shambles tonight.he had no service.no back up.shame for him.Poke had another dodgey game.but to be honest he looks short of confidence along with a few others.and some who are not up to league standard simple as that.I had the radio commentary on on the way home.never heard steve breed so dejected during commentary. This is not a temporary blip.if its not sorted pronto we will dip.we need 5 wins to get safety.at present i am not sure where one win is coming from. Us fans have seen this coming for a while.surely the management team have.Ok lingy is ill? even chinese whispers that there maybe more to this than meets the eye.Under 1800 of us tonight.hardly surprising.as a lifelong fan and used to mixed fortunes from us.this is starting to rank amongst the worst.we cannot afford to let our league status go.directors please read and listen

Evans must love coming down here, three points appear to be there for the taking, sealed by the usual time wasting and feigning of injuries. More worrying for me, alarm bells are starting to ring for the first time this season as we folded in the second half after some initial good work where we again could have gone with a half time lead.
I got to the ground just before kick off and was surprised to see that Benyon was only on the bench with the side unchanged from Saturday. The first half was more of the same from that game where we had a number of half chances that are just not going in at the moment. Manse had the best chance with a good shot which was tipped over but either side of the keeper and it would have been in. Poke had very little to do in the first 45 and I can’t remember him having to make a serious save. The ref had to go off injured which led to 6 minutes of added time.
The second half started poorly. After giving the ball away in a build up, they were able to break down the left and from the family stand, thought Leadbitter was a bit slow coming out of defence and a pass inside saw Frecklington take a shot that I thought Poke had covered but which found a way through. This was a hammer blow after all the good work previously. Benyon had been brought on at half time for Craig on the wing with Yeoman going out wide which if truth is to be told, puzzled me. We were struggling to build up any meaningful attacking play when a through ball found Revell up against Downes with the Rotherham striker able to slot the ball past Poke. It was virtually game over I’m afraid.
Macklin did come on before long to replace Yeoman on the wing and seems to have eased himself up the pecking order over Danny who did not come on after his ineffectual display on Saturday. Once again, he did reasonably well and was a threat but our cross field passing from both full backs was poor and let us down on several occasions. Just as the end of normal time came, Bodin was on to a through ball and a couple of metres from the by line was lightly clipped by the defender. A soft penalty indeed but there was contact and it probably prevented him from getting to the ball in time. There was an exchange of words between him and Benyon as to who would take it but Bodin earned it and took it well with the ball hitting the inside of the post.
Just when we had 4 minutes of injury time to try and get a point, Rotherham managed to break down the right from kick off, get to the by line and cross it for the killer goal, all without a Torquay player touching the ball. Game over!

The only chance we have of another 3 points is if we admit to driving Chris Huhne's car!

I cannot beleive Benyon did not start. Is Taylor taking the piss? Everyone knows we have trouble scoring goals. They get a striker in and don`t start him! FFS. If they thought Jarvis etc was any good they would not have felt the need to bring someone else in. So what do they do? Start with the strikers who have failed previously. Talk about head in sand. Does Taylor realise we are in deep shit? Does he care? Where is the reasoning in this? This lot need to sort themselves out. People won`t stand for stupidity or incompetence. If they piss off another 1600 people, they`ve got the place to themselves. Taylor has really pissed me off over this. I hope he is not making any more decisions in the future.

Was there a concern about his fitness with his lack of first team match practice?

rjd, was there a better opportunity to assess and improve that fitness and practice? The reports suggest long balls were played up to Benyon when he had no chance of winning the ball. The facts as reported seem, collectively, to suggest Taylor does not have a clue. I am not a play off man. I`m solidly a mid table but in League 2 man. My expectations are not unrealistic. But what is happening now is making me hissy fit! Yes, my Granny COULD do better than what`s going on now. Simon Baker - do your job or make way! This is not what the fans want.

I thought Rotherham were a good side (yes they had the usual rolling about on the floor feigning injury, which is the Steve Evans way) who seemed quicker and stronger on the ball than us. They hoofed the ball up and it went to one of their players and boy could they counter attack. Good job they were missing a couple of players.
We on the other hand were piss poor with few players coming out with any glory - Yeoman had a good first half but needs to beef up in order to ride the tough tackles, Leadbitter and Bodin.
Anyone got Ian Atkin's number?

I don't think our midfield has been the same since Eunan left us as he was the focus point for a lot of passing and created a lot of goals or gave Manse that extra space to get his. I could be well wide of the mark but it is why I think Craig should go into the middle to replicate the Eunan role, even if he is still learning this year. So, without the creativity from midfield, the ball was all too often lumped up front and without the quality of Rene there, previous little for Benyon to latch on to. The first half was pretty good and we need to convert some of those half chances and / or create better chances that we can convert. Putting Yeoman on the wing with Benyon in the centre was a mistake and it was only when Macklin came on that we looked better balanced and at least we attacked down the flanks. Bodin seems to be improving as well so there are positives to take. I would love a comfortable mid table finish which is still achievable but when did that last happen for us!

A lot of us have been saying that Craig is wasted out wide and should be in the middle. For me, on Saturday the back 4 remains the same, Craig and mansell in the middle, Bodin and Macklin out wide with Rene and benyon up front. Then see if we can work the ball out wide and get some decent delivery into the box. Hell, this management lark is easy sat at a laptop!!!!
