Last Monday I had a drive around the North part of the Peak District.
Planned to take more pictures than I did but forgot to charge my camera battery.
Before setting out I took some pictures of the Pennine Manor Hotel where I was staying.
This wasn't the original Hotel that I booked. Was supposed to be staying at the Old Golf Course Hotel which is in a village called Outlane near Huddersfield.
I arrived last Friday after a six and a half journey to find out that they had no record of my booking.
I booked my York Hotel at the same time using Avios points but both details got sent to York,so not the Hotels fault.
Luckily there was a room free for Friday night and another Hotel was sorted which was about a mile away.
A view from the Helicopter pad at the Hotel.I thought it was Huddersfield at first but it must be Sowerby Bridge and Halifax because the Hotel is South of the M62 which you can also see.
I headed for Holmfirth again and went on to the A6024 which goes across the beginning of the Peak District.Half way along just before the border with Derbyshire there is a viewing point called Holme Moss.
Some views:
I then joined the A628 which takes you in to Glossop then headed south on the A624 and then the A625 East to Mam Tor where I stopped and walked to the top:
Some pictures of Mam Tor and some views from the top:
I then carried on Eastward and then North on the A6013 which joins the A57 near the Derwent Valley Reservoirs.
Only managed to take one more picture which is the Ladybower Reservoir.
I wanted to drive up see the other Reservoir's but the road was closed for some reason.
The Derwent is of coarse famous for the Dam Buster tests.
Then went back on the A57 Westwards back to Glossop which takes you through the Snake Pass.
I did originally plan to stop at the Snake Pass Inn but didn't.
