I think it is fair to say that it hasn't been the best week for the Torquay supporter and we end it with a tough trip to the Kassam. However, the reports from the Barnet match were greatly encouraging and if we play like that then more often than not we will win matches. After the Port Vale match I remember their supporters talking about a big score being due the way they were playing and look where they are now! Whether we now merit being in seventh place after losing but playing well as opposed to winning but not playing as well previously is debatable but it does show that the overall quality of the division is not great this year and a sustained run will push us right up there! If there is one team more inconsistent than us then it is Oxford so anything can happen this Saturday! After winning the first three matches, they then lost the next six although I think injuries did play a hand. Even recently though, their results have been all over the place. A 4-2 win at Cheltenham was followed by a 3-0 loss at Port Vale. A 5-0 home win at Accy was followed by a 2-0 loss at Rochdale. Two away wins at Wycombe and Barnet have once again been followed by a 2-3 home loss against the daggers on Tuesday night. We all know about Constable who has got his place back in the side recently but the real danger-man is Tom Craddock with 10 goals so far, the same as Rene! Over half of these were accrued at the Accy (4) and Daggers (2) matches though. For this match, Rene is suspended which is a big blow and Poke may well be injured but it wouldn't be surprising if paradoxically we got something from this one. Watching the Yeovil match, Jarvis was unlucky not to get a hat trick and although he is not in the same class as Howe, will probably start in the same striking role. If he gets a hat trick for this one, will Howe start the next game? ;D I suspect that otherwise, the same outfield XI as from Tuesday will start to try and reproduce the expected quality of play to win the game!

As it is obvious that we will not be bringing in any loan players in, I will be watching this from behind the sofa where my brother used to watch the Daleks

My first game since Accers, 30 min trip up the A34.
Looking forward to watching the Ricey and Ryan show.
I predict, 300 travelling gulls, a 2-2 draw and a long time to get out of the car park after the game.

I predict a 2-1 victory to the Gulls and no problems getting out of the car park for me as I'm under a one match veto! Who put this in the wedding vows I ask ye?

Looking forward to watching the game tomorrow at a ground where we have never had too many happy times recently ----last year was when the wheels started falling off!! Anyway win.lose or draw I will enjoy the day no doubt, nice few beers and look forward to seeing a few "old" faces. By the time I get home no doubt--our "new Brucie" will have told us all where we went wrong without even leaving his bedroom!! COYY

We'll find out tomorrow what our squad depth is really like. Let's face it, our away form has been pretty poor with Poke and Howe in the team so it can't get too much worse tomorrow, can it? We hardly score away from home and 0-0 is usually our best bet!
We can only hope that Rice and Jarvis give us all a pleasant surprise. Actually I saw Ricey play in the pre-season friendly for a half against Leeds and he was better than Poke that day making some impressive saves. It's a few years ago since his shaky displays in the BSP and I believe he has improved from what I saw having more of a presence about him. Well I do hope I'm right.
As for Jarvis, we can only hope he puts in a similiar performance to the Paint Trophy Yeovil game which I missed. When I have seen him play he's been largely anonymous and unimpressive and it's like playing with 10 men.
Here's hoping... I'll tune into Radio Devon for the commentary but I hope I won't have to "accidentally" nudge the tuning knob to another station. It's funny but that's what happened to Bristol Rovers away in the first half, my fingers somehow slipped. I'm afraid there's no room behind my sofa. ;D

I think Rice deserves his chance. By all accounts he's been a model pro since he came back and is a lot better than some give him credit for. As for Jarvis, here's his chance to show us what he's made of......hatrick please Ryan!
I know we always think the next game is a defining moment in our season, but Oxford away is a tough place to go. You never know which team will turn up and if we let them they will tonk us. On the other hand they are inconsistent so we might get lucky. I just can't call this game, could be a 5-0 whipping or we could just as oddly win 0-3. So I'm going to sit on the fence, get the beers in and wait and see.

Having been unusually pessimistic last week for the FA Cup game and half expecting us to lose I am very upbeat today. I agree with DTG that it does depend on which Torquay team turns up, by I am expecting a 2-0 or 3-0 win. I hope Rice does well. He is very professional and does not deserve the stick he has had. The omens are also good. We always did well last season when big Rene was suspended. Perhaps he's the weak link
