Can we get to come here on a permanent basis, what do you think? "BILLY Bodin is a graduate of the Swindon Town academy where his dad Paul, a Robins' legend, is the youth coach. A lightening-quick forward, Bodin made his professional debut in Swindon's League 1 loss at Dagenham & Redbridge in October 2010. He started this season as a first-choice striker at the County Ground but dropped down to the bench after three games, prompting his loan move to Plainmoor. The Wales Under-21 international will remain a Gull until January 8."

Considering that he was Kee's replacement, we need to keep him or get someone in during January. Possibly extending the loan to the end of the season may be the most realistic option.

If this season is about rebuilding for next season then I would like to see him sign for us permanently on a 2 year contract. He had a quiet game on Tuesday night, however for me he was Man of the match yesterday. He has bags of skill and beat his man time and time again yesterday. With Danny playing out of his skin at the moment and Rene Howe a potent force up front Bodin completes a strong front '3'. One very small criticism is that I think he could have/should have had a couple more goals so far this season. For me I would get rid of Atieno & MacPhee and use the money saved on their wages to pay Bodin's wages as I would imagine that Swindon would move him out on a free.

I think we can level that at a lot of strikers who have played for us! He hasnt always played up-front as a central forward, although that might have worked to his advantage in that he has been able to run into more space rather than standing right on the shoulder of the centre-half.
The Wimbledon match was the first time that he experienced a win in his time with us, that must surely have been tough, although coming-through that might have toughend his resolve! I think there is enough about him to try and keep him if the sums add-up. He has good technique, fitness and attitude.

Another article on dot com with him talking about his role and freedom playing in a 4-3-3 formation. If we do try to secure him on a permanent basis then we don't really want him scoring a couple of hat tricks just before January creating a lot of interest and taking his value out of our reach.

The manner in which DiCanio explained that he would welcome a "Bid" from us tels me that he isn't really for sale at any knock down rate we may be able to afford. Annoying that we, in effect gave Billy Kee away for a song( any sell on clause?) and will probably have to break a transfer record to replace him permanently if we were to ask the price. I may be wrong of course, hope I am but just 19 years old and very talented with so much promise I don't think so. Best we can hope for realistically is that he stays the season.

Again, Ling has commented that he would like to keep Bodin although no firm discussions have taken place but could be why no loan players have come in. I'm sure over time Ling could develop him into a fine player and we can offer him regular first team football along the way.
Swindon have brought in some pretty decent players and maybe their wage bill is a bit toppy and there is a need to off-load someone. He certainly has some value but obviously cannot make their first team and as a youngster hasn't quite got that consistently yet.

I see that Paolo di Canio has gone off on one after their draw against "lowly Bristol Rovers" on Saturday. Apparently, he now wants 4 or 5 new players in the window (as opposed to three before) and maybe this will make it more likely that Bodin could move to us.
I don't think Billy had one of his better games for us on Friday and seems to be very up and down but probably down to his age and lack of experience (I think he has now played more league games with us than with Swindon) but certainly could be one that Ling as a former winger could develop well - look at Danny for example!

I think Bodin would be a good signing for us, sadly, he doesn't want to leave Swindon...then again, no one does! www.eatsleepsport.com/swindon-town/selling-easier-said-than-done-di-canio-1353231.html

Well, on the BBC website, Ling is in negotiations about keeping Bodin here until the end of the season with all parties seemingly happy about this as he is getting first team match experience here. At the moment extending the loan deal is more likely but his transfer does still remain a possibility so watch this space.

Another update is on dot com today. Swindon want him back at the end of his loan for a few weeks to assess the situation and also to provide cover if they can't replace the players they want to get in. It looks like that any transfer deal has now gone out of the window.
The good news is that Billy wants to come back here for the rest of the season and if deemed surplus to requirements then it is probable he will extend his loan here. His contract is up in the summer but I think there is a chance that Swindon may extend that if deemed to have enough potential!
