Whilst it was a disapointment that Grimsby won, it was a massive point for us, particularly as we were against the wind in the second half and playing our second game in 48 hours. We have increased our lead over Grimsby from the start of the Easter Period and anyone would have taken that. & points is going to be a big deficit to overcome.
I was unable to listen to the game on the radio as my daughter turned up with my three grandchildren just as the game was about to kick off. Therefore I’m unable to give my views based on what I would have heard on the radio.
A point up there has to be a good result and its point we would have been more than happy to take before the kick-off. It has been a day when results could have been so much better for us and only the Lincoln result has gone in our favour and pulled then deeper into the relegation fight.
Grimsby are not going down without a fight for sure and today’s result will have only made them believe even more that they have a good chance of staying up and that they can win three more games this season.
We are still by far in the better position and taking four points from six over Easter has been very welcome and fully deserved and will also have a positive effect on our players that they can take into the next big battle.
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed we are safe for the last game of the season as having to get a result then to stay up, is not something any of us want to have to go through. It that was to be the case then all we could do was give our full support during that match, but I just don’t want how I’m going to be feeling this summer, having to come down to a final day showdown.

Have just got in from a rather windswept Sixfields Stadium.
Not that brilliant at match reports but will tell it like I saw it.
Not my favourite place or club and have bad memories of recent times.
Rather surprised when just before the teams came out The Red Flag was played. Was just about to sing the chorus when my wife pointed out it was a song about Northampton Town!!!
We started really well and took the game to them. Hard when you are behind one goal to see how close you are to scoring at the opposite end. Muzzy was causing them problems and Benyon was working really hard, as he did all afternoon.
Our back four looked solid with Bevan confident behind them.
Ellis and Branston not giving Bayo an inch, until a crushing tackle I think from Branston finished him off.
At half time we looked the better side and hearing the Grimsby score was feeling pretty good.
No changes at half time except we suddenly went very deep.
Northampton had a number of chances but we were holding firm.
I really couldn't see us scoring although we did have a good chance which Benyon narrowly missed connecting with.
The last 10 minutes were rather nervy, but we held on for a tremendous point and one we would have taken at the start.
I never like to pick out a man of the match as the team were very much together.
Benyon has received criticism over the season but he ran his socks off today and was a credit to the team.
The defense was very solid and am so pleased to see Nicco back.
The away fans were brilliant. Out sung the home fans all the way through. Well done to you all, except the guy behind me who continually moaned all the way through and then at the end shouted Buckle out. What an idiot, now is the time for out and out support.
Coming down for a weeks holiday on Friday with Children and grandchildren so will be out in force on Saturday.
Quite a funny incident on the way out of car park which was no more than a field but only cost a quid, when two cars would not give way to each other and eventually ran out of space and so banged into each other. Plenty of arguing and they were both Northampton supporters!!!
Just got home --must admit the hour long journey was ruined a bit after hearing the results of the teams around us. For those that always knock the team I just wish you had seen the effort, spirit, endeavour by the Team, supporters and Management. The fans didnt stop singing for the whole game-well done all. The game was dictated by the wind and the eleven players really had to dig deep to keep going. Once again Guy was immense and I really enjoyed watching him closely during the first 45 minutes. He constantly encourages and talks to those around him. Also felt Elliot and Carayol are enjoying there extended and continued run in the team. Mansell and Wroe had to battle hard in the middle of the park but the pick (imho) for me had to be Nicho......some of our best attacking first half moves either involved him or were started by his interceptions. Great to see him playing so well again and those throws and dead balls sometimes are our best ammunition.
Was delighted to see Teddgull and son at the game--a nice surprise.
We often mention on the TFF how as fans we see things so differently--I listened to Radio Northampton on the journey home and twice we were described as cynical by home fans!!--I really dont know what game they were watching.
Anyway fantastic point but just wish it would have meant us going further away from the bottom of the table. Keep the faith and see you at Grimsby ---am having sleepless nights at the thought of it!!!
