T.Rex - Dandy In The Underworld Hard to believe he died 40 years ago yesterday. I was a big fan in the early 70's. The albums are probably still in the attic somewhere! Got to admit my musical tastes had well moved on by the time he died. Apparently the story goes he was on the verge of a comeback but I don't think it would have happened. He'd had his time and by '77 Punk had taken the box seat. I always thought that, like Elvis, his early death stopped him sliding into oblivion. Released some cracking songs though. I would suggest that with 'Dandy' and the Marc Show, the comeback was on. I don't think he would have been as big as he was, but at least I might have seen him in action.

That shows how much I must have moved on by then. I didn't even realise he had actually made it back on TV or released an album in '77. Had to Google 'The Marc Show' and for sure I never saw any of the episodes! Ditto 'Dandy'. Completely meaningless to me. Now, if you want to reminisce about 5 or 6 years earlier, I'm there! The difference between being 14 and 20. Dandy was the comeback album and he toured with the Damned and had them on his show along with The Jam. I must confess to not doubting his talent even when he was at his lowest. Have all his singles and albums from Deborah/King Of The Rumbling Spires up to when died - I was cooking breakfast in a hotel in Paignton when the news filtered through.
