With the total change in mood around Plainmoor, some people are actually looking forward to tomorrow's match rather than dreading it.
Make no mistake, this will be a very tough match - Woking are a very good team. Gary Johnson has had two very easy matches so far, but the patience and confidence shown by the team in two easy wins lets us believe we can mix it with the best.
Other than Billericay - biggest budget but handicapped by a nut job owner - Torquay and Woking should be the two sides best equipped to battle for top spot. Under Owers we looked like we would fail to make the top seven, but now can we even dream of top spot? A win tomorrow would keep that hope alive.
A chance for Banton and Bawling to prove Woking wrong? Probably not.
I don’t really trust them not to build more houses and then not deliver the stadium and just sod off
Have read that Lemonheigh-Evans has been seen on Instagram both driving Jake Andrews to training and playing golf with Andrews and the other Bristol City loanees. Will we be getting a surprise 5th loanee announcement half an hour before the game?
As it stands, these are the fit ones:- Bass, MacDonald; Wynter, Cameron, Koue Niate, Sendles-White, Davis, Edwards, Regis, Hall, Andrews, Reid, Keating, Williams, Banton, Bawling, Wright, Janneh.
Wright and one of Bawling/Banton to miss out of the matchday squad, I reckon. If Evans is ‘in the building’ then I’d guess at both of Bawling and Banton to miss out. Injured are Dickson, Sololik, Nabi and Essuman.
Off to Cyprus for seven days Phil My son has been working over there for the last eight months and were his guests for the week. Have a good one today! I have rediscovered my optimistic head again...
Talking of Cyprus got married in just outside protarus last year was awesome we went bk there in August to celebrate our anniversary absolutely awesome country loved it Loved visiting famagusta to a lot of you will know the history Anyway cmon you gills today no mercy today kick some Woking arses yellow army lol
Am sat here in Costa del hull, this feels like a win as daft as that sounds, by the sounds of we were so much better in 2 nd half,a few weeks back we would defo list this game, seems there's some fight throughout the team at mo, bet the gaffer is dirt of happy with that, there will so much more improvement in the weeks and months to come.
Good atmosphere around the ground today and unlucky to be 0-2 at half time but again missed our chances while Woking took theirs although the first goal was deflected. Second half Woking parked the bus and it was all Torquay and the chances eventually came. Woking had one chance in the second half straight after our first goal but otherwise were subdued.
Good changes by the manager today taking out the weak links and seemed to be set up much better in the second half. Andrews had an off day on his set pieces but still a quality addition. Edwards is just seriously quick! Liked it when he vaulted 2 fences to get the ball back quicker. Top notch attitude throughout the team.
Off to the Eastern Eye for a curry...
The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
A fantastic, stirring comeback today against a very decent Woking side. Torquay kept going at 2-0 down and ended up getting their just rewards. It said something of the new team spirit in the side and also Gary Johnson's ability to make the required changes.Johnson was not afraid to make a double substitution just before half-time bringing off the the ineffective Keating and Regis. The best change when still losing 2-0 with 15 minutes to go replacing Wynter (right back) with Williams (striker) with live wire Edwards slotting into the right back. Edwards still got into advanced positions on the right and was probably our most dangerous player during the game. Sorry to say it but Wynter is often error prone gifting possession and poor deliveries.Talking of poor deliveries, they were a big let down today. Andrews kept over hitting our deliveries in the first half and Davis and Wynter were no better with theirs.
It was a great atmosphere at Plainmoor today with plenty of chants from the Pop side of "Gary Johnson's yellow army". At times all three sides joined in with the chanting and Gary Johnson had a very good reception before and after the game. About 2:45pm Johnson walked right over to the Pop side to applaud them and at the end Johnson walked around the home sides of the pitch with the players to enjoy the mutual applause. They applauded the crowd and the crowd responded to them. The come back felt like a win and it is a long time since I witnessed that sort of spirit. As I said earlier before the match the feel around the club reminds me of the Buckle era again.
The first half was quite end to end but Woking looked more threatening. I think Torquay's inexperience was showing as we have a lot of young lads. Woking first goal was thanks to a big deflection off our wall. I felt we needed one or two more in our wall and our keeper Bass was totally wrong footed by the deflection. Their second was superbly taken unleashing a shot in the top corner after sloppy defending. After the double substitution Reid should have got one back but failed to connect with a low cross.
Woking in the second half seemed content to just slow things down and get men behind the ball. Torquay struggled to get a break through. Substitute Janneh missed two decent chances, one a header after great work and delivery by Reid and the other slicing badly wide. It seemed Torquay would not score but after Williams came on, we pressed Woking more and more. Well done sponsors MOTM Reid for taking his two chances and by the end Woking were on the ropes as Torquay sensed a winner.
Well done on our new found team spirit that got us back into the game today and the Gary Johnson effect is clearly rubbing off. It's great having a quality manager. There is clearly much work to be done for Johnson but we are already a huge improvement to what I witnessed in the Owers era.
The rest of this will stupid to underestimate us, we played one of the stronger teams yesterday and am very confident we will make playoffs at worst Great to see to see some optimism amongst plainmoor lets kick on and friggin kicks some arse. Cmon you gulls
