So we eventually kick off the new year which does not bode well with a tough match against Wrexham who have one of the better defensive records in the league. With our poor goal scoring record I can see heads dropping if we concede early. Desperately need something from this game to spark a revival to stay in this league which is looking ever less likely I am afraid.....
The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
One of best defenses against the worst attack. Wrexham , however don't score many goals either - amazingly just a few more than we have managed. All academic in all honesty win draw or lose the situation is just to desperate with just a couple of new faces both - look pretty lightweight. Brave of them to come though I give you that.
My education started when I left Highweek School for boys..
Davey and Gnabouyou gone from the Boreham Wood 15, but Dowling, O'Sullivan and Fletcher to come in.
Only four defenders in the squad.
Do we go for a back four with Efete at right back and two left-footed centre-backs? McGinty did o.k. alongside a fellow left-footer towards the end of last season.
Efete / McGinty / Andresson looks a decent back three, but who could play right wing-back? Myrie-Williams? Reid would give it a go if asked. O'Sullivan? No idea of his style of play - it would be a bit much to ask a young debutant to play out of position.
If it is a back four, do we go "two banks of four" or maybe back to the diamond we started the season with?
We don't seem to have any natural wide players in the squad. Reid and Gosling can play wide, but it is not either player's preferred position? O'Sullivan? Again, I don't know.
If it is a diamond, you would expect Lathrope to sit just infront of the back four - which would give some license (if not quite as much as a back three does) for Efete and Davis to overlap.
I would have said Young and Dowling ahead of him and Gosling "in the hole". Does the O' Sullivan signing change that? Would he be better suited to taking Dowling's place or Gosling's? Or will Young or Dowling be pushed up into "the hole"? Or will O'Sullivan start on the bench?
I am very wary of lumping too much responsibility and expectation on to young shoulders, but I think I would definitely start with Fletcher as we are so desperate for a goal scorer.
Who best alongside him? I suppose Keating is the nearest we have to a target man even if he isn't one. There would be an argument for Pittman's experience to complement a youngster, but I think Reid would be the least bad option.
If anyone is going to the match, give me regards to Crad's house.
Any glimmer of hope is now firmly extinguished. 13 points from safety, as it stands. Might as well be 113 for what difference it would make. After more than 50 years supporting, it's a stab to my heart to see what we have deteriorated into.
One goal scored in open play since the end of November. Anyone thinking we will survive this term are deluded - its as good as over. Owers and Kuhl wholeheartedly endorsed by The God of football Knowlege on the BTPR have failed miserably. No idea why but the BTPR haven't as yet come up with a playground name for Owers and Kuhl. In any case they have come in thinking a good bollocking and a rocket up the players arses would do the trick and its completely back fired. The end of the football club looms, the one I grew up to love I'm beginning to despise.
